We have been a member of the EU for 47 years. I think it is very sad and a big mistake for us to leave, it will not be to the benefit of the UK, imo..

WE leave at literally the 11th hour today... ..and that's all I'm going to say , because this is a very serious issue and this discussion could very quickly take a wrong turn on a site which has a no political rule...

Which is a shame.

I'm curious about the details of untangling things on an individual man on the street level.

How will this impact people from other EU countries that have been able to move and work freely in the EU and vice versa?

Untangling contracts, pensions, etc... that are written using the euro, etc...

It seems like leaving is easy compared to all of the little details that have yet to be decided.

I wish you all the best during the coming year and into the future.

If it all goes wrong, as I suspect it will, there will be weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth.

well yes and no...if you'd been here in the days when politics was permitted, you would be happy it's not permitted here now...

There are however many other political or otherwise forums which we can post on, so I'm happy to have this no politic rule here now...

There is no reason NOT to discuss politics/government. It is the only thing we must all LIVE under.

There is a reason. No politics are allowed on this forum. Matrix allows some important topics to be discussed, as long as they don't lead into political discussion and debate, which violates the no politics rule.

Thank you Holly, you are correct.

And there are plenty of places on the web to do it. Just not here. Matrix is our host. It's the same as if he were hosting a dinner party and didn't wish for conversation to devolve into political arguments. He'd politely steer the conversation to other topics or ask a persistent guest to talk about something else. He's been very nice about asking for abstinence from politics here, and in an increasingly polarized and rude world (especially online), it's refreshing to have a social space that's an exception to the nastiness.

just so you know Bea.. (sorry admin) just want to answer this question very quickly.. we have 11 months to thrash out terms with the EU, so all those answers are yet to be decided but there's no reason why things should change with regard to working and free movement in the EU ...

You'll find all you need to know elsewhere.. (y)

Now I'm going to sit on my hands where this thread is concerned..🙏

All well and good but, this is an open forum , and I will once again voice my contempt for this rule, as the subject effects us all, each & every day.

What is everyone so afraid of, concerning this topic ?
