Interesting & Happy Morning!

It's no wonder that farming/ranching folks don't get along with "city folk". LOL
Even if this were true, you are neither a rancher or farmer. You live in an apartment building in a city.

Putting on a cowboy 🤠 hat doesn’t instantly make you a rancher or cowboy BUT at least you’re happy in fantasy land. Perhaps you’d have an easier time if you stop trying to convince us of your delusion.

Im not hating on you Cody as I actually like you. 😎

Well, to wife and I, I'm still a cowboy, just a retired one. LOL (which is the truth)

I did tell a few Seniors at that restaurant that I wasn't a rancher, just a retired rodeo cowboy. Remember, I spent numerous years in professional rodeo, of which I owned/rode a quarter horse, was a member of AQHA.

And, btw, Keesha, I did know a rodeo cowboy that also lived in an apartment, had a horse at a local stables (like I use to). One thing I definitely am NOT, and that is a "nightclub cowboy", even though I was sponsored by a nightclub part of the time I was in rodeo. And, I did work for awhile at a livestock auction and a Horseback Trail Guide for a regional park. Was a farmer, with my dad, when I was in high school.

So, I didn't just live around livestock, I actually worked with livestock. Have you worked with livestock and owned a horse, Keesha? Just wondering.

So, it's not really a fantasy and I have pictures of me in the arena to prove it.

Funny, my wife just said, "we have a boat, but don't have lake property. The boat is stored in a Boat/RV Storage. But, we are still boaters."

A World Champion Bull Rider, by the name of Charles Sampson, lived in the Bronx of New York. He was a rodeo cowboy, but lived in the Bronx! Wife and I met Charles. He is now in the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame in Colorado Springs, CO

Wife is very, very proud that I'm still a part of pro rodeo, even though I'm no longer a contestant in the arena and don't own a horse anymore. Both of us know many former/retired rodeo cowboys and cowgirls who are now in the Hall of Fame.

Not trying to convince anyone here of anything, but, obviously, I have owned a horse, done rodeo (whether you are a rodeo fan or not) and have worked with livestock. Wife and I simple thought it was very, very cool how Seniors at the restaurant acknowledged me, due to my hat and buckle I worked hard to get.

Actually, all of you should read the nice comments I've got from a few posters on this thread. It's obvious they know how I feel, whereas most of you don't. But, what the heck! Can't please everyone all of the time.

Figures, Holly, that YOU would want to see pictures. But...…….sorry lady, isn't going to happen.

Have come to figure out that I don't have to prove anything to anyone on here. Sorry. Do have the photos, though.

Actually, I've read, on this forum, where Seniors stated the same thing...……"don't have to prove a thing to anyone".

you got too much class to be ugly-quit it
few got the nerve (a different word is used) TO climb on a 1700 pound
bull of a nasty horse
I lived five miles from old man Gay's Mesquite Rodeo. He and Donna
ate at Waffle House semi-regularly-good folks.

You ever viewed the video when Donna got hung up in the rigging-
He was just a little-bitty fella 5'6-7' 160 pounds. it was the longest I ever
saw a fella hungup-jerked him like a rag doll over a minute. The bull wouldn't quit, clowns couldn't get to him.
'course Donna lied, (as all cowboys do) 'Didn't hurt me, I'm FINE!

Haven't been able to mount a horse for 40 years, no great loss, but i
wish, 'just one more time.'

You can be whoever you want to be. In fact, everyone should be who they want to be.
I understand you ‘used’ to be a rodeo cowboy. You’d told us all numerous times and it’s certainly something you should be proud of. I’ve got no problems with any of that.

What I don’t get is your consistent need to put others down while you claim your glory as a cowboy. If my memory serves me correctly your last thread you made before you left last time was about cowboy hats and whether anybody had one so I posted a picture of myself with one on only to be told by you that it wasn’t a ‘real’ cowboy hat. It was a ‘nightclub’ cowboy hat. 🥺 The last time I went clubbing was in my twenties.

In this thread you complain that it’s no wonder farmers and ranchers don’t get along with city folk but you currently ARE living in the city. You are a cowboy to your wife and always will be. THAT I can respect and appreciate. In fact, it’s very sweet and heartfelt but the fact of the matter is that you aren’t now.

Have I ever owned a horse? No but my neighbours and friends do. We used to live right beside a farmhouse with owners who boarded and owned horses which I helped care for regularly at one time.
I helped muck out their stalks, brushed them, cleaned out their hooves after riding them as well as feeding them.

When you asked me this question last time I told you the exact same thing as well as adding pictures. I used to horse back ride with a group of ladies who owned horses and we would ride into the next town along the back trails which was about 12 miles. Once in town riding on pavement is quite the challenge but I managed just fine BUT I’m not trying to compete with you.

You seem to think I’m some city party girl which is so far from the truth. I have lived in the country most of my life. In my late teens, and twenties I lived in the city but my heart will always be for the country.

All these pictures are from the area where I live and I’d LOVE to see pictures of you as a rodeo cowboy.
Being the photographer I’m sure you have some pictures of your horses and rodeo.

I don't want anyone here to get me wrong, the city we live in is nice, it's just that there are some-to-many Millennials and Gen X folks that have a hard time understanding and getting along with Baby Boomers and earlier age. The Millennials and Gen X want to say "this is our town now" and the Baby Boomers say back, "Not totally. We live here as well and you must understand how we feel about what's happened here. Many of us drive the speed limit and you call us fools for that. You folks want to drive 10 to15 mph over and we just won't do that. There are other changes to this city that you folks like that we don't and wasn't here before."

So, CR, if you got your way and got rid of all the millennials and gen-X folks, who, then, would be your doctors, road-fixers, utility pole climbers, airline pilots, policemen, firemen, EMTs, and so on?

I think you need to get used to the idea that the natural order is that the older generation fades away and the younger generation takes over, just like we did in the 50s, 60s, and 70s. "What's happened here" is what's happened and happening everywhere and it's supposed to happen that way. Get used to it.

Have been dressing as I like when on my own time since I can remember , especially since I retired. Love the looks, they feel so superior...:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
Plaid shirts, love em....
All I see are matching members of the herd, they load up on perfume aftershave and feed the black flies.
I do feel sorry for some, their view of life is so limited...:devilish::devilish:

Ok, Keesha, ok!! But, show me the pictures of you working with livestock, as in hogs and cattle. Didn't do that, that's fine, but I did. Yes, everything today is "did", not doing. But, wife and I do go to a local livestock auction to watch the bidding/buying of livestock.

Actually, Keesha, I've had people tell wife and I "we live in the country and love it", but when I dig a little deeper and ask about having any kind of livestock, the answer was, "oh heavens no". And, yes, we know there are folks that live in the country that have absolutely no interest in raising any kind of livestock.

Actually, I don't put folks down, well, at least for certain things. When I read certain words, or see certain photos here, I really start wondering. Asking someone something, isn't putting them down.

I don't do rodeo anymore, but do have two ropes that I used when I roped. Put a horse in front of me, with saddle blankets/pad, saddle/cinch/breast collar/tie down and bridle and I'll saddle and bridle that critter up!

The seniors vent, why can't the others vent? Fair is fair I think.

Yes, it is fair, but those two Generations, the Millennials and Gen X really do wish all of the Baby Boomers and earlier weren't here and the same goes for how the Boomers and earlier think of them.

Some months ago, some of the student body wanted to change the name of the teams that are at the University of Wyoming in Laramie, WY. They said to news media, "not everyone who lives in Wyoming are cowboys or wants to be one". The name of their teams is Cowboys. The University ended up ignoring those that wanted to change the name and it remained Cowboys.

What are you expecting with this?? If your trying to change their thinking, your wasting your time.
Grab your lady enjoy what life means to you both. You will enjoy life more. I know I do.
:D :D

Yes, you're absolutely right! Actually, I probably shouldn't have done this thread in the first place. Just when will I learn????

us quit fussing
What really upsets us is, our opinions don't count anymore, were of another era that has been passed by.
Remember, we didn't pay a lot of credibility to old fart's opinions in out twenties.
I didn't know you become invisible when you get old. Salesclerks can't see me unless I'm a foot away, waving an arm.
Young folks got a clamp on stupid, but so did we.

Ask your friends, 'when did you become invisible?'

No I don’t have pictures of me mucking out stalls or cleaning horse hooves. Who ever does? 😂

Plus I’m not the one trying to prove something here. No I didn’t tie down hogs or do rodeos nor did I want to.

Yes everything you are talking about is past tense which is precisely why I don’t understand why you’d say “This is why farmers and ranchers don’t get along with city folk.”

Sure as a cowboy you can live in the city but you are STILL considered city folk so you’re criticism becomes an oxymoron. You are basically criticizing yourself by your own words.

Plus you are stereotyping everyone into clear cut categories which just isn’t reality.
