Coronavirus Hotline?

I know everyone knows about the virus that’s going around. Does anybody know of a Hotline out there where we can ask questions? I’ve been hearing about food shortages, Etc. my concern is different I heard also about people stocking up on bullets and guns that if people start getting desperate they might start robbing and breaking into people’s home to get food? This is possible and has me concerned, us being seniors are the Most vulnerable. Iam taking what ever precautions I can, getting a gun is not the answer because most of the time the will be used on You? Thanks

Pat, I'm not sure if there's a hotline with a live person at the other end to answer questions, but there are many online resources about COVID-19. Here's a site from Whittier, Ca. that has a lot of information with links to can click on to find out more.

As C'est Moi and Ruthanne suggested, it's best to watch your local news station for statistics and information that is focused on your locality. Like Ruthanne, I looked around for a hotline but couldn't find any. Chances are they may not have live people to answer questions as they're constantly getting updated information and it's just easier to post it on websites or report it on the news. On my local news they talk about the virus every day.

At this point I wouldn't worry about food shortages, the stores are doing a good job to restock the shelves.

I found a post online saying that some places have activated a 2-1-1 line for related questions and concerns. Maybe try that? Also Patono you don't need a gun to protect yourself. Use what you have around you, what your comfortable with.
here's a link for turning ordinary everyday items into weapons. someone breaks in, beat them with a frypan. i have a hammer and i will use it if need be.

sorry, I'm not really being sarcastic here, just concerned... but do you really think that if 2, 3, 4 maybe .a gang of people smash into your house with knives and guns you're going to beat them off with a hammer?.. do you think that if even one person comes into your house who is much younger and or stronger than you, they are not going to take that hammer from you, and use it on you?

I know it gives people peace of mind at times to have these kinds of things, but really you're best to just up the security of your home, you really don't want someone attacking you with your own item of protection..

that will have all the information that you are looking

You misundnerstood me? I have No intentions ecessarily that I was going to try defend to myself with a weapon, but make myself more aware of my surroundings buying an Alarm system of some kind ? I was wondering what was the governments plan going to be if people start to behave unruly?

Thanks for writing, I’ve called and left messages 3 days ago, No reply? Someone mentioned calling 211 for non emergency issues. I’ll try Calling that. I just want to know what’s the governments plans are if people’s behaviors starts to becomes desperate? You never know?
 
In Ohio, you can look up the most current information under our Ohio Department of Health. In my county, you can look up under our county board of health.


We also have a state map that tells where and how many cases we have. Maybe you could try googling the department of health for your state? and your county? Also, google for "map of coronavirus OHIO" (replacing OHIO with your own state

We have guns and I promise you if someone broke in here the guns wouldn't be used on us, if so it would be over our dead bodies. Pray no one ever needs to defend their property though. As long as they don't do something stupid like let the prisoners out of jail like they're talking about doing.
