Have you ever ordered something you really wanted online only to be properly scammed?
It pisses me off!!!!

This morning I ordered something online. It came to $23 a unit if I purchased more than one so I got two.

When I filled out all my essential details and try and cash out, it takes me to a page that gives me a choice of purchasing this item every month OR getting one more unit for only $23.😳 I already ordered 2 and it wouldn’t let me continue my order without filling out this page. Well this already ticked me off but I click the other unit for an extra $23.

Then it continues to another page where it says it will ship in x amount of days for another $13.95 and there is no other option. Well after this I decided NOT to finish the order so got off the website altogether.

A bit later I get an email stating that I’d ordered 3 units of this item and owe x amount. 🤬

When I look to find a phone number to call there is none. There’s only an email address
support@yadayadayada!

Well I’m pissed. How do companies get away with this type of deceiving CRAP???
I’m so mad!😨

It’s not so much the financial aspect that I’m upset about, it is the sneaky deception that ticks me off most.

I would be absolutely Furious... they are so clever those scammers even if you're being very careful. Fortunately I've not been scammed in that way... but Nothing gets me more mad that scammers and rip off merchants.
THANK YOU!!!🤗
I feel so much better already.
It’s the sneaky injustice that ticks me off most.
I wonder how these people get away with it and where is their moral compass?

Awwww! That was worth the rant. 🥰lol

On the same subject I hope you won't mind me using your scammer thread as a platform for this, which has me furious too...

It's the latest in over 200 new scams this month attempting to exhort money from the elderly..particularly,... but anyone innocent enough to be scared by this are paying up

There are different variations of the reason for the fines... but this is an example of texts and whatsapps people are being sent to their phones... please share this with everyone you know, and be aware of this scam yourselves

Hope you notified your credit card company. Hope you did not use a debit card. Explain you were tricked and REFUSE to pay that bill. Also hope you learned to see scams like this Before you approve & conclude a sale. Dead giveaways all the way through.

I gave a big thumbs up yesterday to our Premier Doug Ford who publicly shamed a company doing this type of thing.

Sorry you got scammed Keesha
YES! We did too Lee. I’m pleasantly surprised by Fords conduct. He’s really stepping up to the plate and doing a great job looking out for his people.

Thanks Lee👍.
I’ve settled down some since. Lol 😝

It is a pity that they are hiding behind an Email address,
I hope that you hadn't put your card number in yet Keesha.

I would be mad as hell too, block their Email address, that will
stop them annoying you.

Mike.
I did put my credit card number through but part of that number ended up the postal code for my address so I’m not sure how accurate the info was for the order. I’ve written the company and got instead notifications saying they’d get back to me within 24 hours. I’ve never not finished an order and had it go through as a done deal before but companies seem to be getting more bold in their deceitful attempts to scam.
Thanks Mike

Whenever possible and when dealing with unknown companies I will use PayPal, as they will reverse the transaction in situations like this.

Are you turning this in to your banking institution and contacting your local fraud dept?
Depending on the outcome of how the company responds. I like to give people a chance to prove themselves. If they don’t come through I’ll call my credit card company who are great with type of thing.
Thanks MariKS.

They are using this crazy time as opportunity to attack everyone even more with their deceptive practices. .... Shame on them all

If you never actually got to the payment page and witnessed the payment and authorized it, I would advise you not to wait. If you wait too long the bank may not be able to honor your request if you knowingly keep charging items and not contacting them.

I guess I can call my credit card company at any time. It doesn’t matter that it’s Sunday. The thing is that I didn’t finish the sale. As soon as I realized I’m not being given a choice in what I purchase to get the sale I didn’t complete the sale and went to another site altogether. That’s the part that surprise me the most. Usually you have to approve the entire thing before it goes through and I didn’t . I stopped the transaction. Somehow they had this set up that if you went back a page to avoid to back out then it would automatically put your order through. Actually I’m going to call my credit card company and report them because everything about the entire transaction was wrong. Thanks Pepper. 👍

WOW....Thank you all for sharing your online shopping duds. I'm quite new to this online shopping thing, hearing your trouble with some companies and experiences, gives me the rule of being very cautious, so far, nothing frustrating. My usual shopping attends Walmart, Staples, Wayfair, one place for chew sticks for my guys. Have found many that won't ship to either street address or post office, or no free shipping. this could be a Canada thing, live in a small town in Manitoba, some prefer to deliver to cities. Go figure.

If you didn't finish the order, paid etc, how can they expect you to owe? The transaction isn't finished until you give credit card #. Just ignore, that's what I would do. Sorry for the scam.

I ordered online this morning at Kroger, my first online grocery order. They wanted to deliver THURSDAY night 8-9pm. I didn't bother, just went this morning and bought in person. Lots of empty shelves, mostly paper products and bleach and I got the last two bottles of cranberry juice. Very few people shopping and we were all keeping our distance. Hope I didn't catch anything. Cashier was wearing gloves.

Just re-read this. How unbelievably tacky. It’s bad enough that these people do regular scams like your Netflix account has been compromised when you don’t have Netflix but to take advantage of this pandemic is something else. 😧 That’s creepy even.

Keesha--if you don't already have alerts set up on your credit card, please do so ASAP. (Go to the credit card website and create an account.) Then you will get an alert text to your phone (or email) when your card is used. This saved me from a scam last year when charges started hitting my Visa for things I didn't buy.

And do call your credit card customer service ASAP. They should be available on Sunday.
