Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

I am, generally speaking, a fan of body adornments and modifications. I have tattoos and piercings. I want more of both.

I am not however a fan of this. I respect his right to do with his body as he wishes, but this image is most certainly proof for me that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I don’t like the nose rings, but that’s a personal judgement. I don’t even like a simple gold earring in the nose. 😂. I have a nose prejudice. So that’s my problem, not his. Otherwise I think he looks fine, if not great.

Daughter, son, and SIL have tattoos, daughter has the most. She and SIL have piercings, the ear things as well, but not as big. This guy probably has money. All that work is expensive.

Some people avoid the expense by taking a DIY approach

To me, he seems sad and this seems more like self-mutilation (in the psychological sense). What will he look look like when he is MY age?
Buy a tattoo magazine and see. Lots of them look darn good. There are tattoo shows, as in real life, and tattoo shows on tv. If people stay in good shape over the years, they will look good, if they don’t stay in good shape, then, to some people, they won’t look good. To others they will.

I think this site and others are way too judgmental. I mean, I’ve seen pictures of primitive people still living in the rain Forrest and they look good, but I wouldn’t want to marry one. It’s not psychological self-mutilation or sad. To me, what’s sad, is women who smear make up all over their faces, look like clowns, and think they are just lovely.

Children have rosy cheeks, Grown woman only have them when they have a fever, are cold, or a gob of makeup. I am sure we all have people in our families that we think are beautiful and some else would think they were drop dead ugly.

So the title is correct beauty IS in the eye of the beholder.

I don't have any tattoos, body piercings, adornments, etc...

I'm not opposed to them they are just not for me.

When I look at that photo I wonder how the man went from being a baby faced boy to his present state.

What was the order in which the modifications were made, why were they made, when will enough be enough?

The picture is interesting but it makes me sad.

I am not a fan of body piercings or tatoos. But more tolerant than I used to be about tatoos. My dad had a tatoo on his chest, desinating who he was on his job at one time in his younger life. During the depression of 1929 he had boxed and wrestled for a carnival for a few bucks nightly. Service men of all sorts got tatoos during military service. That's okay by me. I almost did one time. I used to frown on women who had tatoes, I do no longer.

But to cover your body, or to have more than a token tatoo, it seems to be to be unwise, especially if you're younger and having to make a living. I guess I was too much of a corporate guy. Today things are different. Many people wear multiple tatoos, both men and women. Body piercings are a differant story. Perhaps some day they will become as common as jewelry or lipstick. I know the world does not turn on my whelms
and I'm trying to be more excepting. I also know I am an old man, burdoned with the past and thinking to some extent, and nobody today gives a hang nail what I think. Yet before this stay at home mandate, I saw woman working, everywhere wearing piercings. Looks like I’m the guy thats
out of step.

I’m not the least bit opposed to tattoos or body piercing. In fact I like a lot of them. Some are extremely attractive. Others not so much. When I’m worried about looking deep inside someone’s nostrils , that would be uncomfortable but maybe that’s what this man wants; to make others uncomfortable.

Some people get tattoo’s and piercings to make them feel more attractive. Some people get tattoos and piercings to make themselves more repulsive. Maybe they don’t like themselves and this is how they express it; similar to someone who cuts to make them feel better emotionally.

When my daughter starting getting tattoo, her first tattoo was the Jetsons on a leg. Then she has the other leg done, can’t remember. Next her back, cornrows. One her chest the grim reaper plus. On one arm Russian tea dolls. Her arms are sleeve tattoos. She has piercings.

When she had these done she was making well over six figures, she has a college education and paid off all her student loans quickly. Not one dime from us, no grants. She decided the job was too stressful and quit as she was 24/7 on call.

She’s had a variety of well paying jobs and has always been employed. Including state jobs. Lol, none of the issues you’ve or others have speculated on.

I think you may have hit the nail on the head so to speak, he wanted to look tougher.

People on the fringe look for acceptance where they can get it.

I've never seen a doctor, lawyer, stock broker, bank president, or college professor who looked like this guy. Sorry. Never.
As I said my daughter has sleeve tattoos, hers are above the elbows. Lots have them end at the wrist line. My son is a director at the company he works at, his is on a shoulder. SIL has his on his chest. Just because you can’t see the tattoos doesn’t mean they are not there.

I can't even stand to see people with piercings in their noses and those nose rings. My grand niece had them for a time. This guy isn't beautiful, he's grotesque. How his nose didn't just fall apart with that sh*t he's got going on there, I don't know!
