Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

A few people you might of heard of with tattoos:

Ryan Gosling, Channing Tatum, Michael Jordan, Justin Timberlake, Rob Lowe, Sean Connery, Robert Downey Jr., Ben Afleck, Sylvester Stallone, Idris Elba, Adam Levine, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, Brad Pitt, and Jamie Fox to name a few.

When my daughter starting getting tattoo, her first tattoo was the Jetsons on a leg. Then she has the other leg done, can’t remember. Next her back, cornrows. One her chest the grim reaper plus. On one arm Russian tea dolls. Her arms are sleeve tattoos. She has piercings.

When she had these done she was making well over six figures, she has a college education and paid off all her student loans quickly. Not one dime from us, no grants. She decided the job was too stressful and quit as she was 24/7 on call.

She’s had a variety of well paying jobs and has always been employed. Including state jobs. Lol, none of the issues you’ve or others have speculated on.
Aneeda. My husbands got 3 big tattoos. My sister in law has tattoos, my friends have tattoos , nose piercings , lip piercings, belly button piercings and other piercings. They are all highly educated people who all have great careers.

Once again, I’m NOT against tattoos or body piercings. It’s not particularly something I want for myself but what people do with their own body is their own business.

I don’t really care how many tattoos your daughter has. It’s completely irrelevant and none of my business. You clearly misunderstood my post.

I’m not against tattoos or piercing. My comments were made about the picture Ronni posted. I doubt your daughter looks anything like the picture Ronni posted.

Get it?

The main motivation for that type of excess is a craving for attention. What better way to ensure that people stare at him?

We had a surgeon at the hospital that looked like something out of a Hell's Angels movie. Scrawny, long yellow Fu Manchu goatee, a "skullet", tats up the wazoo. Rode a Harley..….you'd probably run if you saw him in the parking lot. Nicest guy you'd ever want to meet and highly respected professionally. Beautiful wife and kids.

Can't judge a book by its cover.

I am, generally speaking, a fan of body adornments and modifications. I have tattoos and piercings. I want more of both.

I am not however a fan of this. I respect his right to do with his body as he wishes, but this image is most certainly proof for me that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

To each is own.. but if my daughter brought him home to meet me.. I would have her committed. 😂

That's probably what he's going to such ridiculous lengths to prove.
And, of course he enjoys standing out, shocking people, being "different" & getting attention.

Y'know @win231, not everyone who gets piercings or ink or both does it for attention. I have both. I do it for ME, because I like that particular art form, because it has deep meaning and significance to me.

I wouldn't go to the lengths the guy in the photo has, because that's not who *I* am, but still, I don't pretend to know his motives, and it's not my business. What IS my business is my own body mod stuff, and I am VERY clear on my own motivations for what I do, and it has NOTHING to do with shocking anyone or getting attention. Most of the time my body mod stuff is covered so no one sees it anyway....becuase I didn't do it for everyone else, I did it for ME.

Exactly my point, but this thread sure tells you a lot about others, so interesting.

The picture is not a drawing, he‘s a person.
He's a person we don't know personally. *I* don't anyway.

*I* am one of the few here who have engaged in body modification, the specifics of which are my own personal business. I have not discussed that photo person's body modifications with him, his motivations, his reasons, etc. He is someone's son, perhaps someone's brother or uncle or significant other. But I don't know him personally, so all I can comment on is the fact that his art isn't mine. I haven't so far made made the same choices he has, and I don't think I will in the future.

Again, I don't know him, but everyone I do know who has ink and piercings, some extreme, some minor, consider it an enhancement. They aren't doing it to disfigure themselves. Because I don't know the man above, I assume he's doing what he's done for the same reasons, hence my title of beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Oh for goodness sake Anneda.
YES he is a person not a picture. 🤦‍♀️
We ALL know that.

What EXACTLY are you getting at here?
Out of ALL the comments on here stating their dislike, not only for the person Ronni ‘asked’ our personal opinion about, but for tattoos and body piercings in general, you decide to pick on my comments. Why?

What have I said that you find so offensive?

Ronni asked for opinions. Most people’s personal opinions aren’t the same because we each have a separate mind, use separate eyes & ears and have separate individual life experiences & preferences. Why are you so upset that I have a different opinion than yours?

Even Ronni who posted the picture stated that she’s not a fan along with MOST others here. If you ARE a fan, that’s ok too. We don’t have to all agree.

There are many posts that you make that I don’t agree with at all but I don’t point them out or try and change your mind because it’s your life and none of my business.

I’m asking you to do the same. You don’t have to agree with me but at least be respectful enough to allow me to have a different opinion than yours.

This person might not have done this for shock factor but there are plenty out there who do. People who dye their hair bright neon orange and neon lime green! It’s not a crime. It’s not a sin but we don’t ALL have to like it.

It has nothing to do with you, I reply to what you say. I‘m not picking on you. You compared getting a tattoo to someone who cuts themselves. WOW. Big difference, huge. Someone who cuts themselves does so because they have experienced abuse, usually as a child. I am sorry if members of your family were abused (I doubt they were) but mine were not.

It‘s true we often don’t agree with each other. Having different view points, makes our conversations more interesting. If we really object to something the other says the conversation can be removed or deleted. I will remind you that we have both had this done.

But I reply to a lot of threads, I disagree with a lot of people, and a lot of people disagree with me. I am sorry you think you are the only one I disagree with, but you are not. Again, not picking on you, just responding to what you say.

OK, I forced myself to go back and look at that picture, and I am wondering if it's even real. It could be skillfully photoshopped by someone with a weird sense of humor. It's so bizarre that it just looks unreal to me. Don't believe everything you see on the Internet! 😁

I don’t know if the picture has been photoshopped, but I have met and seen in real life people with his body art. tattoos are body art, and I think body art is beautiful. I am not a fan of piercings, but that’s a personal opinion, not a criticism of people’s piercings.

I wish I could have tattoos but I have thin skin, my skin tears so easily it’s not possible. But as soon as my hair turns completely grey, it’s going to be either bright blue or purple. 😀

To me, he seems sad and this seems more like self-mutilation (in the psychological sense).
If it has nothing to do with me then why do you keep trying to convince me that tattoos or ok and people with them can have successful careers? Why tell me all about your daughter with all her tattoos?

Of course they can have successful lives & careers. We are on the same page concerning that one. You just don’t recognize that due to your own judgments.

I’m NOT the one against tattoos but you are acting like I am.

I responded to what Empty stated above. Quite: He ‘seems’ SAD and this seems more like SELF MUTILATION. End quote.

So you say ; quote : you compare getting a tattoo to someone who cuts themselves. End Quote.

No I didn’t. I wasn’t even discussing the tattoos at this point. I was referring to ‘what appears to be painful , body disfiguring so was agreeing with Empty in that it seems to be self mutilation similar to what a cutter would do.

To which you decide to discuss my family and whether anyone’s ever cut the themselves from being abused . You figured probably not !
Well you figured VERY wrong. You have no idea what my family life was like so please stop assuming.

I have never once asked any of your posts to be removed. In fact I’ve never asked anybody’s posts to be removed except for people who only come here to advertise their business or people posting naked pictures of themselves. I’m a mouthpiece but not a RAT.

Of course people can disagree on these forums. It happens all the time. What I don’t like is you taking things I’ve said out of context or making personal assumptions about me and my family which you know NOTHING about. Please STOP!

Note: you don’t like the body piercings either.
Isn’t that somewhat hypocritical?

As my father would say....To Each His Own.....He never criticized anyone...He was in the National Guard for 40 years....
When he decided to join the National Guard, he was young....He couldn't go to war, he had only 1 eye....Some people
never knew he was partially blind....He lived a long life....So if someone doesn't like what another person is not there
liking, it's not anyone's business....(I try to be like my Dad, but sometimes I fail)…..

I do know about your family life perhaps you have forgotten about that, I could tell you what I know here if you would like. That info was on a few posts that you had removed. Also I recently deleted a post of yours and mine, because you asked me too, you said you regretted over sharing. In any event not interested, whatever.

If he ever comes to his senses he could remove the studs and rings but what the hell could he do with the holy ears.
And the nose? Plastic surgery can fix it all. Tattoos are really expensive, he probably has the money.

Perhaps I have forgotten about my family life?
Seriously? 😳🙄
If you knew about my life you wouldn’t have posted ‘that people who cut themselves is from abuse usually as a child. I’m sorry if members of your family were abused ( I doubt they were) but mine were not.’

From the above paragraph you clearly don’t know about my family life and what I experienced so please stop acting like you do.

The only thing I ever asked you to remove was ‘one’ post which you quoted before I had a chance to edit and that was 2 days ago. I overshared about my family which I didn’t feel comfortable about.

In conclusion WE ALL made judgments about the person in the picture regarding his body piercing and disfigurement, including YOU.
