How does this happen in my beloved country?

We don't have as far to go, as we've already been
I guess I won't be surprised when the next news story shows these same looters going about business as usual. What has happened to this country?
Throughout riots in St. Louis this week, only 36 individuals were arrested for rioting, looting, and committing arson. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch confirmed that all of those arrested, though, have been released from jail without charges against them.
“In a stunning development, our office has learned that every single one of the St. Louis looters and rioters arrested were released back onto the streets by local prosecutor Kim Gardner,” Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt said in a statement posted online.

A spokesperson for the prosecutor’s office said eight of the 36 were released from jail after no charges were immediately filed and two were released from jail after being issued a summons to appear at a later court date. The remaining 26 individuals were released from jail without charges thus far.

Cities facing riots have seen similar instances of immediate jailbreak for rioters, looters, and arsonists. In New York City, more than 400 individuals arrested at riots are being quickly released from jail without paying bail, while in Washington, DC, nearly all rioters were released from jail and had felony riot charges dropped against them.

The city, county, and state politicians are to blame...they have no backbone, and no sense of duty to protect their citizens.

They hired and were supposedly supervising all their judicial and law enforcement departments, and now they want to blame others for their failures of command and control when it gets out of hand.

Beats the hell out of me.

In some ways, it seems to be what the new America wants ??

Streets names now being changed to "Honor" black lives matter ? black lives matter murals being painted on the street in our nations capital. Now in several cities there is talk of disbanding the police, stop funding them ? What the hell are these people thinking ??

This is a "foot-in-the-door" of anarchy ........ Unbelievable !

Evidently there is insufficient evidence to press charges at this time. It took nine days to charge 3 officers standing by as a man was being murdered by a police officer and they were stationary and being videotaped in the light of day.

During the pandemonium nighttime crowds, rioting and looting, it must be very difficult to sort out who did what.

and then because of the virus they probably don't want to be housing them for very long.

Some "poetic justice" would be if in another week or two there is a resurgence of this virus among those who have been wreaking havoc in our cities. The Only "winners" in all these protests will be the thieves and thugs who will see the police increasingly reluctant to enforce the laws, for fear of being accused of "bias".

i'm sure it's a difficult time for police departments everywhere right now. especially ones where there's complaints of unnecessary force being used.

Don, there could be a resurgence of the virus among the police also. What kind of a thing is this to wish on anybody?

My hat goes off to the police who, by "taking the knee," have been showing respect and empathy to the protesters. A lot of them probably feel disgusted and helpless to stop the actions of psycho cops.

Not me, Sunny! You'll never see the day I'll bend to anarchists. Defund and disband the police? Then Sheriff's? All law enforcement?
Now we will see the men who stand up for their beliefs and the ones who cower for fear of being called racist. Can't say anymore. I'm incensed at the ignorance.

Ditto here Gaer. Pandering to the criminals is not my cup of tea. Now, I just read where there is a movement really getting in gear to demand reparations to blacks for slavery. Just a minute folks, who is paying for the reparations for the destruction imposed on businesses and innocent civilians by the rioters for each and every time they feel they've been wronged?

Hi Gaer! Thanks so standing for principal. This movement now to defund law enforcement has the real chance to destroy the country and it is really happening! A lawless society and no defense against it...and if you say, hmmm, that's a bad idea, you get labeled and dismissed. Divide and conquer is what is happening.

It all comes down to money. The cities can not afford to keep the looters in jail. The cities won’t be able to afford services soon, libraries and such will be the first to go, then essential services like garbage collection, street repairs, etc., and since people don‘t want the police those will go as well.

I find it extremely ironic that the black communities have complained about not enough police protection Constantly over the years, and now want the police disbanded. It will be interesting if the police are disbanded, entirely in the black communities yet remain in all the other communties.

I rarely watch the news now. Tired and bored by the whole mess. As for the virus, it’s going up in a lot of places, including here. I am going to continue to stay as safe as possible, wear my mask, wash my hands, and avoid crowds.

What do you mean? I don’t understand what you’ve written.
Some slaves were captured directly by the British traders. They ambushed and captured local people in Africa. Most slave ships got their slaves from British 'factors', who lived full-time in Africa and bought slaves from local tribal chiefs.

Most slaves throughout history around the world were captured in raids... Kept or traded for money or goods....
And African Americans were not the only "Slaves" in the new world.....

“Find the tribe that kidnapped their ancestors”-so you are saying they need to find the people directly responsible for the kidnapping of their ancestors in order to get reparations from them? Instead of from the American government as they are trying now?

Oh, WOW, this is a great ideal! Also they would be suing their own ancestral tribal chiefs for selling their ancestors originally in some cases. 😂
