To stand alone in the face of adversity, to hold to your stance and your mettle, discover your true worth, to risk the loss of your position, your material accumulations, all you've built and acquired, for your principles and convictions ,your inate sense of right and wrong, your values, your ethics, the stuff of your soul; this is your measure.

Are you to kneel to mobs of anarchic so as not to be considered "racist"? Label me what you will, for names don't hurt. The mob cries out, "Show us you're ashamed to be white. Kneel in submission. Spit on your flag. Turn your backs on your symbol of America. Humble before us."

Stand tall and be shown as a man among men. Bow and yeild to no man, no mob,no institution, no ideology. Don't give your dignity, your self=esteem, your individuality, your self-worth. Revere in the strengths of your ethics, your values , your resolve, your thoughts and mind, your integrity, and the qualities of your soul.

If it comes to your body being slain for your beliefs, let it be,for you will live through eternity. Should you find yourself one against a thousand, lift your head high and walk into the storm like you own it. Don't cower in fear but be your own man. Give no thought to what of yours will be lost,but rather the strength you are gaining in your soul. You are showing the world, yourself and your maker exactly what qualities you possess as a man.

Yeah. I got up early this morning, took a shower, ate a tangerine and opened my laptop. Started writing. Something inside me I had to get out. Yesterday I bought a huge American flag and put in my front yard. I'm the only one in town with a flag, except the Post Office. Hope it catches on!

A tangerine? I am so jealous Gaer, I love them and we still cannot leave the property. I'll have my son pick up some if he can possibly figure out what they are. šŸ˜Š

Hey Gaer, now all you have to do is find such a man. Men like you portrayed in your post no longer exist. We are all mostly cowards now. Hell, most of us still believe in the Boogeyman.

If you don't believe me, just turn on the TV and watch all the cops allowing their station to be taken over by "peaceful" anarchists during this "Summer of Love." Whatever happened to "I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

Before anyone chastises me for the words: "with liberty and justice for all." Some people (too many people) leave out that part.

The last real man that I knew was my father and the men of his generation. He was a true man's man.

It appears you are much like your Father. I'm sure you are a man's man as well. Thank you for posting part of the PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE! I respect your taking a stance and affirming your loyalty to America. Sincerely, Thank you.
 
My opinion of the "Measure of a Man" is the individual who works hard to support himself and his family, and obeys the laws. He Does Not think the world owes him a living, and he tries to leave his world a better place than he initially found. He does not engage in actions that will result in harm or costs to others.

Gaer, that was beautifully written. I'm not sure whom are you talking about. Who is calling you a racist? Who is causing you to spit on your flag? And explain what being a Caucasian has to do with love of your country? You wrote heroic words, but what are you being heroic for?
I may be totally wrong, but, to me, what you are saying is put down those uppity blacks. Please tell me I'm wrong.

I don't hold to my stances. Instead I open myself to new information, to learning anew how my actions affect others, and allowing my soul to grow. To think things through a second, third, fourth and perhaps a five hundredth time.

I steer clear of people who maintain deeply entrenched positions on controversial issues, and am no fan of intractability or incurious minds.

When Colin Kaepernick knelt during the national anthem, rather than condemning him I educated myself about why he took such an action. It didn't take much research to understand the point he was making.

Most of the rest of the US and the world - not to mention the NFL - are finally getting the point.
 
What, a patriot that is white=tell me, what is wrong with than!
Our values are not that different than the bulk of post over the last few days, but we have our own values too, we have room for both-you?

There's nothing wrong with a white patriot, or a green one, or a pink and purple striped one. But mixing up patriotism and race in a piece that's heavy on flag-waving rhetoric and light on clarity sends a peculiarly strong but vague message. It's the clarity issue regarding race that's causing problems with the OP imo. It's very clear that Gaer is a patriot, but not so clear whether she is speaking as a white person who is responding with disgust to the demands of current rioting mobs or one that adheres to a more disturbing ideology.

I'll just say....Thank You, Gaerā€¦ I did put something here about riots in our town many years ago.....I'll never forget and hope these riots
that are happening...(And don't think all are peaceful) It's all a disgrace for most people in our United States....
Those people should go home....Get a job....And that job should be cleaning the streets that you messed up.....
