"We are committed to being a part of the solution on racial equality, and recognize the term is derogatory," said Elizabell Marquez, head of marketing for its parent Dreyer's Grand Ice Cream, the U.S. subsidiary for Froneri, in a statement. “This move is part of a larger review to ensure our company and brands reflect our people values.”

Why not Swedish meatballs, German potato salad, Cleveland Indians, Kosher & Halal meats? What a horrible country this is. 🤪

fmdpg44. appreciate the link to Corp America, putting out fires where no fire exist.

Altering the name was a corp decision, not a protest from eskimos.

There are people that live in the far north in tribal units. They all fall under the category of Inuits.
Today they are as civilized an we are, perhaps more so as they do not have the problems that a large population brings.
The Iuits know their not eskimos; that's the name of a pie type product.

Find me a Iuit that feels demeaned as he's crunching a Eskimo Pie?

This "corporate pandering" is becoming almost ridiculous. Virtually every one of their commercials in recent months is trying to tell us how much they "Care" about the effects of this virus and these protests, and how much their actions and products are centered around the "public good".

BS!!! Their marketing people are just running out of valid ideas reflecting the " value" of their products and services....AND searching for ways to increase their profits, by pretending to be "socially correct".

Hey, as the mother of a daughter named Karen, I resent the appropriation of her name to describe a spoiled, self-entitled, bitchy woman. She and, I gather, other Karens are not amused.
Yeah, I feel sorry for all the females named Karen. When I was young, there were many girls with that name. I have no idea why it was picked. Hug your Karen for me, ok?

Those named Becky and Susan as well. Becky is 20s, Susan 50+ and Karen in between. The Becky for younger white women is especially weird since it hasn't been a highly ranked name since late 1950s ...think the origin of its use as a stereotype comes from a rap song. Maybe the author of the lyrics knew a young white Becky but she would've been a rarity.

I will have Mrs. J's delicious pancakes for breakfast, Mr. Benjamin's nutritious rice for lunch, and Chef B's spaghetti for dinner, after which I'll treat myself to a nice Inuit Pie for my ice cream treat, as I watch the Cleveland Native Americans go up against my Chicago Neutral Sox! Yeah, what a world, indeed!

Locally they don't say Native American, they say American Indian.. geographically-incorrect, but is it any wonder some of us are confused? 😞

Cleveland Indians changed their logo--no more Chief Wahoo on their apparel.

One way to view this is these are items on a list of things we Americans should not say. I write "should" not but it means "cannot" because if you do you will be shamed and lose your jobs and possibly prosecuted by the law. We can't say "Boo" while we watch others burn cities and destroy public property with out worrying about police. By the way, over the Fathers Day weekend there were 102 people shot in Chicago. Not a single protest anywhere.

#1. It has become a business practice for a corporation to be seen as being socially aware. It helps the bottom line. Sales are increased if the business is seen as warm and fuzzy, rather the just money grabbing. So, everybody is jumping on with the schmaltz.
#2. I was gong to say that fmdog44 was full of it with the 102 people shot, I hadn't heard a word about it. But there were 102 shootings ,in Chicago, over the weekend.
What we need is more guns.

Corporate America is the reason we bathe on a regular basis.

Check out the insidious campaign waged by soap manufactures to convince mother's
there baby stank
Other mothers will whisper what a poor parent you are...
Mommies bathed their stinky baby

Then the soap people aimed at your school age children:
They stink up the school
Then the adults-once a week was insufficient
So we starting bathing
Not sure when underarm deodorant appeared, know the ladies used it in the
1940's
How many items we current use to make us stink good is unknown...

The point is Corporate America wants our money, they will produce products we did not know we needed, until they shamed us into purchasing there 'must have' item

Rarely will you see Corporate America playing catch-up as they are now.
There currently blowing in the wind, trying to convince us there concerned!
There only concerned you might not buy there product.

Is our society a farce?

Might all of this have started when companies that made breakfast cereals started leaving the word 'sugar' out of the cereal names?

OMG, I have the dreaded "MASK BREATH". Yup, that's a new ad from a mint company. Somebody thought that up. "Gee, how can we make a buck of this virus thing?" We are ingenious critters.
And the new mask is all minty to breathe in.....isn't too much of that stuff sickening anyways? hmmmm.....
