How Far Did You Have To Travel To Get To Your Movie House?

We used to have a 12 screen theater downtown about a mile away but it closed down a couple of years ago. Unfortunately downtown San Jose is somewhat of a ghost town and an outdoor homeless shelter and isn't really a draw for people. We've got the university downtown as well but the businesses around that are more geared towards students. We also had a smaller three screen theater that usually ran foreign and indie films that changed hands I'm not sure it will open again after it's deemed to be safe. Even when that happens I'm not jumping up and down to get back into a movie theater.

We usually drive about 5 to 10 miles to get to our preferred theaters. The last few movies we've seen we went to the premium theater with my son. The seats are like big recliners and one can get good food and alcoholic beverages there so it's almost like going out to eat and having a movie play while doing that. We only see movies a few times a year anyway so it doesn't bother me to pay more to make it a special occasion.

I either take the bus or when my 'movie buddy'Alexei can go,he picks me up.He provides the transportation,I buy the tickets
In Jan,we saw movie'1917'.The last movie I saw by myself was'Jumanji:The Next Level" 1st wk in March,week later all movie theatres were closed

As kids, walking to our theatre took roughly an hour, but back when I was growing-up, we walked everywhere, there were no rides to and from, and we never stopped. Walk here, walk there, walk everywhere. We were all I good shape and we never complained... rain or shine.

We like regal as well. It is a 10 minute drive. It is supposed to open in August but we won’t go to an indoor theatre until the virus is not an issue.
 
Walked about 4 or 5 blocks to watch the Western movies at the Lake Theatre, which we used to call the garlic opera for reasons of the odors circulating because they also had a kitchen in the back.
You can still find horsebuns behind the stage there.
It's now a bar.
One thing I couldn't figure out today. Why did the Lone Ranger wear a mask over his eyes?

Meanwhile back at the ranch Tonto was polishing silver. :love:
 
Growing up I lived in the City and there were 3 movie theaters a short walk from my house.Now that we moved to the suburbs I have no idea where there is a movie theater located. It really doesn't matter because I have no desire to go out to see a movie.
 
Growing up in the ex-urbs, a movie meant a trip to the nearest large mall which was maybe 20 or 30 minute car ride. Or into the city which took longer. Once grown I moved into the city and had an indie theatre right across the street - boy did I take advantage of it!

These days before the pandemic we had a great theater just a five minute drive or 20 minute walk away. It's now bankrupt and closed.
 
We have a huge movie theatre complex within a short drive from us but rarely go there as we have little or no interest in seeing any of the recent movies.
