Ever put something in a safe place and forget the safe place?

Oh, my! Yes! All the time. One of the pitfalls of being disorganized. If I would only live by "a place for everything and everything in its place," this wouldn't happen. I seriously think clutter and disorganization is some sort of brain chemistry disconnect. We all know the axiom above makes sense and sounds so easy, but putting (and keeping it!) it into practice is super hard for me.

Yeah, all the time. I put two savings bonds in a safe place about twenty years ago, and I have never found them... yet. I have a friend who put an expensive coin in a safe place and has been searching for it for two or three years now. It happens to be best of us.... and even to those with the best memories. After all, we KNOW we put it somewhere safe.

Of course! It helps that I’ve downsized gradually over the years from a big house to a 1 BR apt. Fewer Safe Places to lose things in , or find things in when I’m really looking for something else. And of course, if it’s something material like Pappy’s cough drops, you’ll find the It in the Safe Place as soon as you replace it.

A few years ago, I wrapped a spare set of keys in some plastic etc.. and then put them safely into a sealed tin, and hid the tin in the garden. Mainly for me if I ever was to lose my keys.. this was a brainwave I'd had after I'd locked myself out and had to call an emergency locksmith.

Do you think I can find that place in the garden? .. nope!! I felt I'd buried the keys under a rock ( there's many rocks)... and into a hole.. but despite lifting just about every rock in the garden, I can't find them

It's a moot point now because since then I've had new doors and new locks, but it's frustrating not knowing where I hid those original keys..

I do it all the time. One happy discovery for me was that I can say, "Alexa, where's my phone?" and a few seconds later, my phone rings.

Or not. A few days ago, that happened, the phone did not ring in the apartment, so I made a mad dash down to my car in the garage, where my phone was sitting, safe and sound, in the trunk, having fallen out of my purse.

What if ... one day you said "Alexa", and the response was "Who is Alexa"? One wonders what happens when these things start getting old, low on batteries, etc. :)

I'm famous for this among my family and friends - they all think it's hilarious, especially when I get really annoyed and start tearing up the house. My brother-in-law will stand there and give me absurd suggestions - "Did you look in the fish tank?" "Maybe it's in the litter box."

Today I found my Costco card, which has been absent for 6 months. It was neatly tucked into an interior pocket of a winter jacket, presumably so I wouldn't forget to take it with me to the store...

Oh my goodness yes! But since all this stay home and no job I have cleaned out every closet cabinet and drawers, some twice, and the things I found again!! LOL

That is probably the best solution to the problem of forgetting where we put something. The bonus is ... a clean house and even a temporary cure for insomnia since we would be so tuckered out by the end of the day. :)

Yes, I have noticed that my sleep patterns have been changing as I get older. However, I remember the "old guys" at work talking about that when I was younger, so I know it is common and therefore am not particularly worried. I do try to maintain a regular sleep pattern by going to bed at the same time every night so I don't drift all over the map in terms of sleep time.
