Since when does getting COVID vaccine?

In my neck of the woods people getting COVID vaccine are making it into a patriotic gesture of Americanism. Consumers are prompted to proudly display bandages covering vaccine entry points, social media is embracing this monumental moment in support and in recognition of heard mentality

Yup, that's an effective sales tactic - "Do your part," "Love Others," "Protect Others." "Get your bandage that lets everyone know you care."
And, "Feel like a hero."

Not sure, but i think i sense a difference of opinions between post 1, and post 2.
All i want is a shot of vaccine-I'll wear a bed sheet if required.

I'm 74. I was a long time smoker. I am overweight. I have cardiac problems. I'm in a wheel chair. My neurologist said that I have "massive:" nerve deterioration below my waist. In short, I'm statistically the most at risk of dying from contracting Covid -19. If some believe that getting a preventative shot of vaccine is somehow "fake" patriotism, at least I'll be alive.

I have the same medical problems you do, plus diabetes and another problem: Take a vacinne shot, YOU BETCHA (y) ✌️👃
If begging and whining is required, i'll do that too

I guess a person in an at-risk group is mostly motivated by self-protection, but I am very happy to applaud and admire anyone who is willing to use their body to shield others from an infectious disease and to win the war against this pandemic (and get our economies back on track). And especially with all the scare stories about vaccines, the people getting vaccinated are in my opinion being sensible and brave, and truly deserving of honor.

They've already admitted that the vaccine will not prevent transmission of the virus; it might make your symptoms less severe.
If that's the case, no one will be protecting anyone else or getting anything back on track.
(sorry to spoil your hero worship). :)

By all means if you are high risk.... and will make you feel safer........... then get in line and get a the vaccine............
but that does not put anyone in charge of dictating what others do....

I had covid in March 2020..... At the time the only way to get the test back then was if you were being seen/ admitted into a hospital. They simply did not test everyone but saved tests for the really obviously ill.
Many early on had to beg for the tests. Some news I read said some people felt that the time it took to get diagnosed contributed to their family members death...
I read about a woman in NYC that rode subway going from hospital to hospital trying to get a test..... can you imagine how many people she would have came into contact with ...... her family said she just got sicker and sicker and by the time medical personnel tested her it was too late.

I had most of the symptoms in descriptions of disease by those who went through it.... was ill for about 10 days...and my husband had just returned from Milan right before their big outbreak.

I have been told there is no reason to have an antibody test because they are not always correct etc..... real reason in my opinion was many do not want people to test that they had antibodies.......... harder to sell fear if we knew how many with little or no symptoms are out there.
I know i had it i had a mild case even though I have a few risks .. .... some become very ill some do NOT

There are literally thousands perhaps millions that had little or no symptoms ( remember all the Asymptomatic people) but had it ...... why do they need this shot .... simply put they don't their body has been exposed and was able to fight it.

I agree that's how immunity works.
38 years ago, I had the flu. I've never had it since, despite being constantly exposed at work by people who couldn't afford to lose a day's pay & came to work & sat with their head on their desk all day. I've never had a flu shot.

Several years ago, I had a cold with bad chest congestion & a cough. When all the sinus & chest congestion & cough was gone & I felt fine, I noticed that I had absolutely NO sense of taste or smell. Even eating a whole pickle was like water. That lasted another 10 days. I remembered that after hearing it was part of Covid.

If getting the vaccine saves a life, helps things return to normal, gets people back to work, helps the economy then IMO it is the right thing to do and that does translate into a patriotic gesture.

IMO it also benefits the naysayers by helping to build herd immunity that will eventually protect us all regardless of personal opinions on the subject.
