******* mutilation of two-week-old baby

Two women who allegedly approached a doctor seeking a circumcision of a two-week-old baby girl in Western Australia have been charged by police. The circumcision was allegedly planned as part of cultural beliefs.

Procedures that remove part or all of the external female *******ia or cause injury to female ******* organs for non-medical reasons are illegal across Australia. Police say the doctor refused the women's request and reported them. The two women, aged 23 and 50, are due to face court in Armadale.

Circumcision ought to be illegal for both boys and girls. Last year one guy was charged for performing circumcisions on 9 boys with a sodering pistol! I cannot even imagine how much pain that must have been:

The *******s of males and females are different -- go ahead and read up on it.
I am aware of that. My question is whether or not you feel there is a moral difference between the two. That is to say if you feel one is OK and the other not.

Back in the 60's and 70's, circumcision (boys) was the norm here in Canada. My baby brother was circumcised, as were my own boys who were born in the 80's and early 90's.

In the early 70's when my baby brother was born, circumcision was touted as being healthier and cleaner (less complications in the future), and from what I remember was automatic unless it was made clear by the parents that no circumcision be done.

Having done a lot of babysitting when I was growing up, baby boys who weren't circumcised required extra attention at bath-time and diaper change time to avoid infections, irritation, etc.

That is so true and these problems continued if they were brought up and not taught how to take care of themselves. I had a couple of 7 and 8 years old that were sad cases and had painful infections
