Would you change your name?

Yes.
They say Samuel Clemens was a writer. with no real successes.
He was very into metaphysics.
A numerologist suggested he change his name to Mark Twain.
The rest is history.
Please don't ask me for confirmation. These writings are in books long since packed away.

My late husband didn't like his name much. He didn't change it legally but started using another name.
I noticed when he did that, he changed!
He then had his own style, his own confident personality, he knew and was comfortable with who he had become!
It was AMAZING, really!

I can't dislike my first name (Pamela) ... after all the trouble Mom went thru in beating her sister at giving birth ~ first. My aunt had selected Pamela as the name for a daughter ~ first. Mom was a bad girl. Hahaha. My cousin Peggy has not forgiven my poor mom.

I've always hated my first name..it's not that it's unusual or different in any way..for some reason even as a very small child when anyone asked me my name I would lie and tell them something completely different.

I should have changed it way back as I grew a little older, but my large family are very judgemental..so I didn't...

I would have to really hate it to change it. It seems like it would be a headache to change all the documents to reflect the new name, or maybe I'm wrong about that.

My dad's middle name was awful IMO. I guess he didn't think so because he said that was the name he would have given his son. I always thought that's why God only gave him daughters.

I had another first name at birth. My dad's boss paid him to rename me in honor of his mother. The two names have the first initial in common, which was the important thing to my parents and their traditions. Boss also gave me solid silver forks & a spoon, which I re gifted to my grandson. I'm sure it will be ignored for many years to come.

I changed my last name a year after I married. I liked his last name better. It makes my first name sound better. I did/do not like either of my first names btw.

I never liked my middle name.

I had to spend my life telling people that "No, that's how it's spelled....there's not a letter missing.....yes, that is the correct spelling."

My mother got my entire name from the obituary of an elderly lady and I've often wondered if there was a typo there.

When I got a certified copy of my birth certificate to get a passport when I was 18, the name had been changed to the conventional spelling. The clerk actually pulled the original paperwork and it showed that someone had pulled the file in 1961, crossed out the name and wrote the "correct" spelling in pencil. Whoever it was dated it but didn't initial it.

My mother and I had to swear an affidavit before a judge to get it changed back. If I had it to do over, I'd probably leave it spelled the conventional way. My high school graduation certificate has the wrong spelling, as has many other items.

I'm ok with my name the way it is. I know this is a little off topic but when I got married I wish I had hyphenated my husbands name with my maiden name because there wasn't anyone to carry on the family name and It was a way of honoring my dad who I loved so much.
I don't think people did much of that in the 70's.
Oddly, Hyphenated names have always been a big thing in this country until recently..seems much fewer people are doing that now...

I HATE my middle name. No, it's not that I dislike it, I HATE it. I thought about changing it, off and on, over the years. Would you change your name?

Before making ANY changes to your name, consider any Legal ramifications that might occur....for example Social Security. I just checked my card and it has my full name....including my Middle Name. Bank accounts, credit cards, drivers license, etc., might all have to be changed to avoid future troubles.
