Speaking of likes..... Anyone like Liverwurst?

I don't remember how the conversation started, but one of the car service drivers and I got into a conversation about crackers and the different things we put on them and I said I love liverwurst and sometimes put it on my crackers, he on bread. He seemed astonished to meet someone else that enjoyed liverwurst as much as him. He said from here on when there's a call to pick me up, he'll refer to me as the braunschweiger-lady. LOL.

I first developed a taste for it about 15 years ago when I was caring for a patient. Lately, I've had a craving for it and of all things, to eat it the way this patient use to like it on the side with rice pudding, of which back then I thought was quite disgusting, but a year later found myself partaking in her little indulgence.

So who else has a palate for liverwurst? I know you're out there somewhere.

Love it, and most other wursts too. Lived in Germany for seven years and holidayed there for fifteen, so tried most of them, many times!

April, I've eaten liverwurst since I was a kid. It was as normal as baloney for occasional sandwiches; never thought about it. I haven't eaten in in years though. I also love liver pate's. Hmmm, want some now!

I had it last week, but, I want it with some rice pudding, so I'll have to pick some more up, but will have to figure out how to make rice pudding, I don't want all the sugar they put in it. Then again if it's too difficult to make rice pudding, I'll just have to get the sugar ladened one sold at the market.

Good to see I'm not alone. :)

I like it, but I rarely eat it anymore. I was a picky eater as a kid and only like certain things. For school my mother would either make me liverwurst, bologna or tuna fish sandwiches, I didn't like anything else. She had to cut off the ends for me too, as I wouldn't eat them. I'd never put up with a kid like me! :playful: My dog and cat looove liverwurst!

When you mentioned bologna, made me think of all the bologna sandwiches we had when my parents took us kids to Prospect Park about twice a month spring/summer weekends. :D

Yeah, bologna or liverwurst with Hellman's mayo...

Loved it when I was a kid - often for school lunch sandwiches. I think my mom bought it at the Polish deli. Tried it a few years ago but it seemed different, fattier and gooey, so haven't had it since. Prefer veggie pate now when I can find it.

I love it; always keep some on hand to eat it on crackers or on a rye bread and Swiss cheese sandwich.

Ever since high school. I usually buy the Farmer Johns brand.

Yes.. We just called it Liver Sausage... I liked it, but it was not my first choice for a sandwich.. But I ate what mom packed in my lunchbucket.

I grew up hating all things liver. My mother (RIP) loved liver and onions. I couldn't even stand the smell of it cooking. Needless to say I did not eat it. I have never gone beyond one small taste of liverwurst on a cracker. I know, I know I am out of the majority most likely but you can have my share of all things liver.

I like it a lot but try to stay away from salt& animal fat. I liked the old fashioned kind that was warped in a fatty skin of some kind, that I peeled off, rather than the plastic wrapped "sausage" shape. On rye with lots of mustard! Now y'all made me want some. Fie! I used to like calves liver & chicken liver dishes, but hard to find good fresh ones.

See there's the kicker, if I eat it without the bread or crackers for the week, I could lose 5 lbs my blood pressure would drop right along with my cholesterol levels. I've done it before and actually, that's was the plan, but somehow, the cracker aisle called to me. Next time more discipline.
