There's over a million non-binary adults in the US.????????????What's is cisgender person? What is a trigender???????

I just read that there's over a million non-binary adults in the US. I have no idea what a non-binary person is. I looked that up, and I'm still not sure I thought I was keeping up to speed with the transgender thing, After reading the article about non-binary people, I feel like I stepped out of the 12th Century. All I can say is "HUH?"
Here's the article:

Non-binary (also spelled nonbinary) or genderqueer is an umbrella term for gender identities that are neither male nor female‍—‌identities that are outside the gender binary.[1][2] Non-binary identities fall under the transgender umbrella, since non-binary people typically identify with a gender that is different from their assigned sex,[2] though some non-binary individuals do not consider themselves transgender.[3] Another term for non-binary is enby (from the abbreviation 'NB').[4]

Non-binary people may identify as having two or more genders (being bigender or trigender);[5][6] having no gender (agender, nongendered, genderless, genderfree); moving between genders or having a fluctuating gender identity (genderfluid);[7] being third gender or other-gendered (a category that includes those who do not place a name to their gender).[8]

Gender identity is separate from sexual or romantic orientation,[9] and non-binary people have a variety of sexual orientations, just as cisgender people do.[10]

Non-binary gender identities are not associated with a specific gender expression, such as androgyny. Non-binary people as a group have a wide variety of gender expressions, and some may reject gender "identities" altogether.[11] Some non-binary people are medically treated for gender dysphoria with surgery or hormones, as trans men and trans women often are.

I am confused on what the hell is going on with the gender question.
I'm a old man, if i'm confused,
what do the six year old kids think?

(don't think the kiddies are too young-imprinting does not have to be dramatic, it can be a slow insidious event )

At the time, my neighbor's seven-year old granddaughter ovaulating and developing a hefty set of breasts. Her parents were stationed in the UK. Base docs were concerned, but couldn't figure it out. So, they sent her to specialists In London.

RX was early-onset puberty from the hormones in milk/dairy.
Jeeze. Poor little girl.

I was actually joking about hormones in food being related to the non-binary gender stuff, but it does make sense to me that it could be related to a steady rise in things like violence, depression, suicide, and early puberty.

This is from an article written by a biological anthropologist who's daughter is non-binary.

"There are many ways, then, to be nonbinary; it’s a misconception to assume that the term refers to some sort of homogenous third gender. Nonbinary people may be transgender (with a gender identity that differs from the sex they were assigned at birth) or intersex (with a reproductive or sexual anatomy that doesn’t align with the traditional binary definitions of female or male). As biological anthropologist Molly Bearman writes, people in these groups “disrupt the idea that human bodies must be male or female” and “force a spectrum approach to traditional biological sex classifications.”

Anthropologists often make the point, as I have done with my students, that a multiplicity of gender identities is neither modern nor exclusively Western. Some Native American groups have a longstanding cultural practice of embracing different gender identities: the term two-spirit, for example, refers to expressions of nonbinary identity or sexuality. In India, hijras don’t fit into a binary view of gender. In Ecuador, a study of ancient figurines hints at nonbinary gender identities thousands of years ago."

It's a very good example of how complex the issue is.

My Nonbinary Child

From my Latin studies in High School, 'cis' and 'trans' mean roughly 'same' and 'across' as in cisalpine and transalpine Gaul. This is how Julius Caesar referred to parts of what we now call France - on the same side of the alps as Rome or on the other side. The alps were the dividing line.

So, if there is a dividing line between the sexes, a trans person has moved across that line from male to female or vice versa. A cis person has not.

As for 'tri', meaning 'three' I suppose a tri person could be some condition not easily identified as male or female such as children who are born with features of both sexes. They were often referred to a hermaphrodites after the Greek gods Hermes (male) and Aphrodite (female). In the past such babies were often assigned a gender, usually female, and were operated on to remove traces of male sexuality. However, male and female brains are somewhat different and the child may identify as male in a female body. He/she would be in a state of gender dysmorphia, believing that their body was all wrong and wanting it to be changed to the correct form.

I think the practice today is to avoid surgery to assign gender in these babies at birth.

Then there are other complications caused by variations in the X and Y chromosome combinations. I have one grand daughter who, instead of having the usual XX combination has an extra X chromosome (XXX). She is obviously female but what would someone be like who had XXY, or XYY? Perhaps these are the people for whom the prefix 'tri' is referring to????

The brain is so complicated that all kinds of various disorders could afflict it. I don't believe that diet nor counseling can help, but meds may help some,

I think in a few years some of these people will simply identify as who they were, male or female. It's a great attention getter and I think it's a magnet for those with personality disorders since they love being some kind of victim and are often very attention seeking. My mother was a borderline and both of these things.

All fine and good but I will not put up with someone berating me because I 'mis-gendered' them. Not going to happen.

The gender issues are not all that difficult to understand. Those with the chromosome mixes which make a gender difficult to tag are few and far between in society. Thinking a gender does not change the one a person is born with regardless of what the political agenda is for the day. These identity of which gender am I issues are ridiculous. So be it.

This is actually a much larger problem than people are being told about, partly because the dairy industry wants to keep it covered up as much as possible. However, the hormones in dairy products, especially the excessive estrogen hormone, are causing problems for both women and men.

If you think about it, milk comes from a cow, a female cow, and most likely a pregnant female cow; so she is producing a huge amount of estrogen, not even counting the hormones that she gets artificially.
The extra estrogen is one of the causes of breast cancer in women. For men, the extra estrogen totally depletes the testosterone hormone, which men need to have.

Since all dairy is thought to be healthy (well, maybe not ice cream…. But things like cheese and yogurt), and people are told that they need to drink milk to get their calcium (another untruth), more adults are drinking milk, as well as children getting a lot more than they actually need.
If you think that you need milk to get your calcium, where do you think that the cow got the calcium from ?

I am just an old country gal that believes that what you are born with is what you are. I don't even try to keep up with all of it anymore. Just don't expect me to keep up with what you think you are, I am still trying to understand one of my grands. She says she thinks she is a lesbian. I don't care whether she is or not. She is trying to figure it out with her shrink each week. I just want her to be happy.

All to confusing for this old gal
So when a child’s born well at least in Australia the baby is given a blood test for all sorts (when my youngest was born ….wait how old is he :D Oh he’s 46 ) it was a test they did by taking blood from his foot
It’s still the same according to the neighbours who have just become Grandparents.

So that blood test is still preformed on-a child
X days old so wonder does that determine what gender that child is?
all to hard for me .

I know if im required to fill out a form
any where now days there is no Mrs I either have to tick Ms or M or OTHER .
The forms requires you to add Given Name then Last name ( Surname has been dropped )

I suspect it’s because of all the Genders

We live in a "conservative" rural area, where things like "Gender" are of little concern. However, a few days ago, we had an interesting experience. We were at the local Walmart pharmacy, getting a minor prescription refill, and noticed a young "lady" also waiting. We didn't pay much attention to "her", until she started talking on her cell phone....with a Deep Baritone voice....that got our attention,. She was wearing a low cut dress, but had a flat chest...no "cleavage"....etc. That was the first time we've ever seen what appeared to be a "trans-gender" person in this area. Given the "old fashioned" attitudes of most people in this area, I'm sure this individual must lead a challenging life.

Grass?

It's easier for me to accept these differences than it is for me to understand them.

I have hung out with several gay people. They are good friends...or not. I used to frequent gay bars and socialize with lots of different "types'. Their world view is quite different than those who live a more accepted sexual lives. It is like a different culture. Maybe that is what is happening. One of our most basic insticnts is choosing to evolve beyond the twoness of everything. It does make a powerful statement. Remember that Bible saying that goes something like "You can't pour new wine in to old wine skins..."?

I think the Bible's interpretation and that view was conveyed to the masses when our nation was formed. Religion was supposed to be separate from our representatives, BUT they always invoked the Christian God to propagandize their particular view to convince people of their positions' moral authority. They could even justify owning other human beings. BUT, the Bible clearly states that all that manipulation is in error because Jesus said "It is a widely commented biblical passage, in which Paul states: "There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus" It is sometimes cited in various Christian discussions about gender equality, and racism."

So to really be a moral person is "God's Kingdom" we have to drop the labels. :)

You cannot take bible snippets-you have to take the whole book.
Don't turn this into a religious thread-please.
(i'm often guilty of this)
Your entitled to your opinion, and it has merit, but not inclusive of the entire bible.
