I'm not sure that the former head of the nation had anything to do with how badly this was done. Why look around for someone to blame other than themselves? Let the one(s) who did it own it.

Preventive medicine is always best. If Bush I & II hadn't invaded Iraq Saddam Hussein would have destroyed al-Qaeda thereby ending international terrorism as he was its biggest enemy. The USA needs to mind its own business and stay the hell out of that region. Just as we don't want anyone to invade or tell us what to do about our problems, they have the same sentiments about us intervening in theirs.

Hate to say it but soon enough the corporate war profiting capitalists will pull the puppet strings of their political lapdogs and we will have another war or series of wars. As usual, they will tell that it's for your good when, in fact, it is all intended to enhance their corporate war profits.

Considering the fact that they are rivals for access to the same limited resources in Central Asia and the Middle East, if they are going to start a war it is far likelier to be between themselves rather than with any Western power. As usual it will be none of our business though some pol in Washington DC and in the Fox network will likely try to intervene militarily and then pretend it's for your good.
 
The Afghan government along with the people that are not tied to one of the terror groups didn’t want the U.S. forces and allies to leave. Their government is overly corrupted. When I was in the Mid East, and was working with some of their military personnel, it wasn’t unusual for many of them to be stoned. As for the Afghan Army, they were a very good fighting group, but there were some that lived on the drugs available. Imagine being with a bunch of Afghan soldiers that were stoned and enjoyed just firing their weapon for whatever reason.

our way of living, threw out our folkway, our religion, altered our women.
We will not tolerate these man from the West, we will follow them to their homeland for our vengeance.
 
Something that's a bit perplexing... Our original agreed upon withdrawal date was May 1, 2021. Biden decided that date would be too difficult to meet, so he pushed it out to August 31. That's an additional four months. The people who wanted to leave should have been preparing to get out by the original scheduled date. So why did so many wait until the last minute? I think some of them had trouble getting visas.
 
Pinky,, Wow? You bet, wow. Think of a 200,000 man army where maybe half were addicts taking on a much smaller army of Taliban. Drug use along with leadership that is corrupt and incompetent and add to that an army made up of men that lack education (illiteracy) and faith in their government, it was almost like it was designed to fail. The U.S. had been there for 21 years and they thought the day would never come when we would leave. What did they expect? Maybe that we would stay another 21 years. Then what?

Remember, we paid the farmers money to grow other crops.

Who is to say what we did in Afghan? We darn sure did not want the Russians there :

Nobody could have known that the Afghan Army would be so easily corrupted into throwing down their arms and giving up. They share a common goal with the Taliban – their hatred of the infidel. And any compassionate western country who decides to open their arms to these people should think again.

The Taliban may well have its deficiencies. But giving billions in capital to the wealthy isn't one of them. Wholesale rape of innocent little boys is another.

This is News unless you tell the truth. My Grandson in the Marine Corps is in Afghanistan in this mess. As I told the Truth in this thread and the post was deleted #32 I will not be posting anymore on Senior Forums.
