Events that raise your Hackles

The forthcoming COP26 (climate change conference) in Glasgow. Irrespective of my views on climate change, this will end up costing tens of millions of pounds that could have made some beneficial changes instead of generating more 'hot air'. An associated complaint.....
a couple of years ago there was a government scheme to insulate houses for free. However, this only applied to houses where it could be done easily and cheaply - not to the houses that most needed it.

Events that raise your Hackles

The biggest problem is all the illegals coming in south of the border getting everything free. Then we have Veterans that are homeless & no medical, housing, or any kind of help. They fought to keep this country free & this is how we treat them.:mad:

I don't recall reading in the United States Constitution anywhere that says the entire world is entitled to enter the USA.
There is literally no end of needy, desperate people, and you bloody well know it. Would you allow every one of them into the USA ?
It's not in the Constitution, but congratulations for actually reading it. Immigration was not a problem in the 18th century, at least not for the recent immigrants that arrived from England and other European countries.

What pulls my britches in a wad is my grandparents came from Checolovia around 1919 & had to stay on Ellis Island. They would not let them into the States until they could speak enough English to hold down a job. They also had to get an American to sponsor them & help them get a job & with the English language.

They got their citizenship a year later. I remember them talking about all the things people from foreign countries that were on Ellis Island had to do & how hard it was to find a sponsor willing to help a foreigner.

They lived in Joliet Ill. We lived in Ohio so once a year we went to visit when I was a small kid probably 8 to 10. I could never understand them talking in their house as they used Checolovian. When we would go out so Grandpa showed us the sites in Chicago they spoke in English.

Now we have people trying to change our English to something else & people are flooding in without having to go through what my Grandparents went through.

Spot on. That's what P.C. run amuck will do every time.

The anti vaxers.
What exactly is an anti-vaxer? Am I one because I chose not to rush in and take a shot that is still not 100% proven effective, and yet, I don't bad mouth anybody who chose that path? I keep getting told to trust science, yet at every turn, science seems to change with the wind. Then, I'm told to trust what the CDC has to say. Yet, it seems that every week or so, they have something different to say.
Maybe it's just me, but, I also don't recall having to get booster shots for Smallpox, Diphtheria, Pertussis, Polio, Measles, Mumps or Rubella. So why is it so imperative that we are now onto a third booster?

This was an important presentation from a very respected and knowledgeable expert in his field. (I know, probably just some anti-vaxxer nutjob, ehhh? Sarcasm)

Dr. Peter McCullough gave an extensive rundown on everything Covid-19 vaccines, from safety and efficacy to the fraudulent “approval” of the Pfizer vaccine.
Dr. McCullough is a cardiologist and was vice chief of internal medicine at Baylor University Medical Center and a professor at Texas A&M University. McCullough is editor-in-chief of the journals Reviews in Cardiovascular Medicine and Cardiorenal Medicine. He was and is an
advocate for early COVID-19 treatment that included hydroxychloroquine.
Dr. McCullough says, “The disability of this vaccine will go down in history as an unbelievable atrocity.”

it does seem were in a wilderness of changing facts

were old, but we remember what our learned folks told
us two weeks ago, now they have amended their former
stance beyond all recognition-confused:cautious:

1. An anti-vaxer is someone who thinks because they googled a few items that they are now experts on immunology. The are also in the "loop" with the "anti" political propagandists.
2. You are probably not an anti-vaxer from what you've said, so don't take personal anything that does not apply to you.
3. Science changes when they learn more. When they found that the world was round, they changed what they said about it Who knew?

Sorry, I should have been more clear on the subject.
I was referring to the Freedom fighters over here that gather in their hundreds and spread the virus.
And now that the fully vaccinated have more freedom, these people are spreading bad reviews on businesses that refuse to serve them.

You could say then, "Thank God for the people who flocked to America making it what it was to help save our way of life in two world wars", BUT "Don't thank God for sending more people now"!, (apologies if I'm skirting close to a most important forum rule there, and I do sympathise with your feelings to some extent too).

I dislike instigators with a passion.

I also dislike people who insist in not accepting the truth about Covid-19.

I DISLIKE those who have to argue about everything!

"I also dislike people who insist in not accepting the truth about Covid-19."

The truth that you accept , given the information you have heard, by the people you choose to believe.

"I DISLIKE those who have to argue about everything!"

So .... rather than argue , they should just agree with you ..... ?

I'm talking about how some argue about everything, in general. Not referring to agreeing with ME.
