A lesson for ya'all! My late wife had a cousin who loved to watch his 12 channels of sports. He loved it so much that he watched it from early morning until he went to bed. Oh, there was the hockey season, then the football season, then there were ball games and in between there was always the golf channel. He used to teach school and enjoyed photography and painting. Over the years, he gave all of this up and concentrated on watching those 12 sports channels. He was encouraged/warned by his friends to get out for a walk or go to the little gym they had 1 floor up. He never did.
Just got a letter from his daughter. He has been readmitted to the hospital again. He came home to his assisted living place but did not feel well due to shortness of breath. Paramedics transported him last Saturday night to the hospital again. He has been put on a liquid diet and tested for Covid (results negative). The plan now is to move him to a care home when he gets better.
There is a lesson here. Watching TV all day is a death wish to my way of thinking. We humans are made to keep moving. As they say, "use it or lose it." This morning I went outside and found a sheet of ice all over the place. Ah! The joys of being a Canuck! Did I just give up walking. Nada! I went inside, took off my tonque, parka and heavy booths and put on my running shoes and walked the hallways. Why? Because I don't want to join that cousin in the care home.
