A Massachusetts funeral home is being sued after a casket broke open during a burial and the body fell out, report says

Cemetery workers often say they are the "last ones to let you down". Sound's this poor soul will be "let down" more than once by these folks. :>)

I've been to so many funerals in my time, I don't know if this would have made me weep or laugh hysterically. 🤗

I have an ad blocker, so i wasn't able to read the article, but I was wondering on what grounds the family's law suit could be based. Pain and suffering that Uncle Charlie fell out of the casket-$100 at best. Shoddy caskets- the cost of the casket? I don't see any big bucks law suit verdict. I don't see what benefit a law suit does that lousy Yelp review, relating the family's funeral home experience wouldn't do.. But I ain't no lawyer.

The lawsuit seeks $50,000 in damages. Nine count complaint, Negligence and Negligent and Reckless infliction of emotional distress, plus others.

Thanks, ohioboy. In the legal world, $50,000, isn't a big chunk of cash, especially since the funeral home could claim the manufacturer of the casket was at fault. I can understand the family's distress over the incident. I believe, in my expert opinion(?), that they'll settle for about $20,000.

Maybe it would have been better, much better, to use the funeral home's cremation services.
