What's The Worst Forum You Have Ever Been On?

I can start. It's now gratefully defunct but was called The Post Punk Kitchen. It was started by a vegan cookbook author. It was full of SJW, virtue signally people who would gang up on a new poster, or anyone if they didn't like a simple thing someone posted. I got flamed on that site also. They would quote their "friends" in their signatures. They were a big clique.

When it was announced that the site would be closing, which didn't happen for months, someone started a Reddit sub for the participants to flock to. It didn't last long and while I think it's still up, it's essentially inactive. I did check it and was surprised to see someone post they didn't miss the place as people were often angry and attacked others. I guess I wasn't the only one who felt that way.

I find Reddit decent. I don't get into any hot button topic discussions there and mainly stick to some TV program and crafting forums. Plus the abuse support sub I go to which is extremely well moderated.

There was one attached to a decorating site. Then two cliques developed and they sure could be nasty to each other or anyone who wasn’t fit to belong, in their esteemed opinions. It was handy to go to when we where having our house built. The site decided to fold, thank goodness.

OK I could mention a few.. but they're all still running so I better not.... but yes Cliques and personal attacks on other members were a major factor in them being dreadful places..as well as Mods who took sides with the cliques..
That's terrible if the mods were taking sides. In one case the woman who ran that particular sub actually intervened as I was getting attacked. That stopped the mob.

I certainly understand not wanting to mention a still active sub.

One of the RV forums I'm on. A specific OP question gets mostly opinion answers without useful information--some deriding the OP for even considering the thing they're asking about because it wasn't what they chose. There are a few members that are very helpful, but wading through the opinion nonsense is irritating.

I've experienced a range of forums, mainly those supposed to cater for "parents/fathers", and hold nothing against any of them as such, (or the organisers/moderators of each).
However one I will mention, (I think I can safely mention its name because my comment isn't a criticism of the site), was the "Gingerbread" forum, one of the first ones I posted on almost twenty years ago.
You may not have heard of the organisation for single parents, because I'm guessing, it is a longrunning mainly UK based group, and the discussion I kicked off was a pretty hectic experience. This was difficult, particularly because of, or largely because of, one forum member calling themselves "Dave", (or "Big Dave"?), who chose to take everything I tried to say personally!

Holy Crow, that's Isa Moskowitz you're talking about. When I was vegan I and all her cookbooks. I had no idea though, that there was a forum and how sad that the vegans there were butt wipes.
One would think vegans would be a peaceful, inclusive, fuzzy, accepting crowd and I was shocked when I found out that wasn't the case, at least from my personal experience.
I'm sorry you went through that and glad the site is shut down.

Not what the OP intended but addresses the OP's title. One way a forum becomes worst is when there are not enough active members to carry on discussions. Any web forum in which members either abandoned the site or those set up with some fancy BB interface full of sub-forums that never attracted members, dead on arrival. Worse than even those with mostly evil bullying members as they are useless, meaningless, purposeless. When smartphone social media sites like Facebook rose, many web forums lost so many members they no longer had a critical mass of active members.

I was a member of two other boards. One was fine with no problems until one day I posted light heartedly about two pieces of conflicting advice from similar sources.
One said that we should cover up to avoid exposure from the sun while the other said that we should take vitamin D supplements because we didn't get enough sun. This was mercilessly pounced upon by some other posters accusing me of deliberately stirring up trouble and making comments while not medically qualified. Posters who rose to my defence were themselves attacked, and several of us left that site.

On the other site, I simply got fed up with some posters whose only job seemed to be criticising other posts.

The worst for me was AARP was there 5 yrs.It started out fine, but trying to get a response from the adminstrators was extremely frustrating.,never replied in a timely manner. In the 2nd yr, they decided to change the format which upset long time posters, many left. After awhile,it became boring,,I left and came here in '17,what a welcome change

I've been on several websites that fit the category of worst of all time. All of them having right wing biases which reflect Hitlerian outlooks on life and politics. A great many of them professing Christian. If you post the truth, back it up with facts, and try to reason with these half wits, they gang up on you, call you all manner of epithets, pretend that you are a communist, and then act as if they are god's holy children and doing the world and the known universe a great favor by censoring you. Some even make death threats with the blessings of the forum admins.

Bunch of phonies and antichrists.

I was on a "Zen Forum" for about 5 years. Then I was on a "Sustainable Cafe" forum for about 7 years. They were too heiarical for me. Peoples opinion's regularly formed around some so called expert, and any questions or differing opinions were treated in a condescending way. This forum is basically us baby boomers frolicking in a new kind of "Woodstock". :)

Worst....there is a heavily overmoderated seniors forum still running.Think bees-or look two posts above.
i am on it...lying low after another run in with the moderators.
Then there was relate to that ....lots of nice people there but an owner with a dislike of anyone who disagreed with her and moderators who enforced forum rules with an iron fist.
i left under a cloud. It closed after most of its members left...

i’m on one with just six active members.
We treat it as our own private forum...have a great time.

That sounds about right. You will get these people who would argue to the end if you have any disagreement with them. One hot issue can be cats among vegans. Many vegans have cats. I came to the defense of one woman who was going back and forth with someone who was nasty and super opinionated and told her she didn't need to justify herself to this person online and please stop engaging with her. You just can't get anywhere with some people and it's no use.

On Eons i once wrote a blog that was an extension of Eric Berne's Book "Games People Play"--i described several games endemic to social media forums: Dog-pile, Sniper, Poor me and others.

Wow, that's crazy. All that over vitamin D???!!! But I believe it. You would think people would just do what works for them and leave it at that. I take vitamin D here and there since I don't go in the sun a lot.
