"US organizers operating a Facebook group called Convoy to DC 2022 quickly gained more than 100,000 members and announced a convoy next month. But the Facebook group was recently removed by Meta.

“We have removed this group for repeatedly violating our polices around QAnon,” said a spokesperson for Meta, referring to the QAnon conspiracy movement that has sprung up in rightwing circles and often promotes antisemitic tropes.

Organizers of the convoy say they are demonstrating strictly against vaccine mandates, which they consider unconstitutional, and deny any affiliation to QAnon. “None of us are QAnon supporters or followers or anything like that,” said Jeremy Johnson, an organizer and one of the group admins. “We didn’t even have anything like that posted on our personal pages.”

Johnson said his personal Facebook along with those of two of the other organizers were also removed for violating QAnon policies, despite his own disavowal of the conspiracy movement. He has appeared on the conservative channel Fox News since the ban, telling the Fox & Friends show: “They like to silence people that speak the truth.”"

"As plans for the Convoy to D.C. 2022 to protest vaccination mandates are being finalized, organizers publicly released the mission statement of the group.
After being booted from Facebook on Feb. 1, the group launched a new page on the platform as well as on Telegram. Their mission statement was posted to Telegram on Feb. 2.
“Americans love our freedoms and love the Constitution of the United States of America. This convoy aims to bring back our freedoms, our civil liberties and bring an end to all unconstitutional mandates. This is about our rights, as well as the freedom of future generations. It’s not about political parties, but more so about a government that has forgotten its place and has no regard for our founding fathers’ instructions, the Constitution,” the Telegram post states.
Additionally, following the second freeze of a GoFundMe account that has raised more than $10 million for the Canada convoy and protests against vaccination mandates, the group emphatically stated they are not fundraising for the Convoy to D.C. 2022 effort.
“We want to be very clear that at this point, THIS group has NO funding accounts or donation links posted. We are NOT collecting donations. If that changes, it will be posted here and our Facebook group. Please research who you are sending your money to if you are in other groups and make sure they are legit,” the Telegram post states."

BIG news if this gains momentum!

Truck drivers on Facebook?!! My husband was a truck driver. The only communication devices he knew how to use were the telephone and the squawk box inside the truck. This is very disturbing.

I wonder if they could use the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution provides a "right to privacy" — the same Constitutional right that grants women the right to abortions. They could claim that it's none of the government's business whether or not they're vaccinated. Granted, I haven't thought that through and I'm going to go take a nap now, but it's possible. And most of the anti-vaxxers are also anti-abortion, so it might not work in their favor.

Sure, any Constitutional clause can be argued, having merit though is an entirely opposite product of law.

Obergefell v. Hodges, legalizing same sex marriage, Par. 3 of the Syllabus:

---The right of same-sex couples to marry is also derived from the Fourteenth Amendment’s guarantee of equal protection. The Due Process Clause and the Equal Protection Clause are connected in a profound way. Rights implicit in liberty and rights secured by equal protection may rest on different precepts and are not always co-extensive, yet each may be instructive as to the meaning and reach of the other. This dynamic is reflected in Loving, where the Court invoked both the Equal Protection Clause and the Due Process Clause;---

Loving v. Virginia was a case where the USSC ruled a ban on interracial marriages was unconstituional.

I do not see any EP issue in vaccine mandates though. Right to privacy and a 1st AM issue, have more merit.

How do you think the 1st Amendment would apply?

There has to be something in the water. If you go back in history the same areas have anti-governmental ideation. For instance, the same area of Western PA. was the scene of the Whiskey Rebellion that George Washington had to put down. In the Civil War, it was a stronghold of draft dodgers, and anti-war activists. Today, it's ultraconservative, and anti-government. So, take your pick, it's the water, or genetics.

The people in Ottawa are probably getting fed up with these truckers blocking the streets, and blowing their horns loudly. If that nonsense spreads into the U.S. we will likely see even more shortages, and empty shelves at the stores. I doubt that truckers contribute much to the spread of Covid, as most of them spend their days alone in the truck cab, so I don't think there is that much need for them to be forced to get vaccinated. It would seem, to me, that those who work indoors, in an office setting, or around a lot of other people, face a greater risk of getting ill, or spreading this virus.

These restrictions and mandates have impacted so many facets of our societies, and have almost become more "political" than realistic.

It's true that the vaccination has been highly politicized. In normal times, people would just get vaccinated and it would be no big deal. But these anti-vaxxers have been convinced by cable news pundits and their political party that the vaccines aren't safe and that they contain tracking chips that the government will use to track and control us, and that the mandates themselves are put in place as a means to control us. They've been convinced that wearing a mask is a huge inconvenience.

The vast majority of people hospitalized for and dying from covid-19 are unvaccinated. The vaccines have been proven to be safe for all but a small number. You can count the number of people who have died from the vaccine on one hand, yet people are outraged by governments mandating vaccines to the point they're willing to go to jail or even die of covid-19 to avoid getting vaccinated. It's crazy. It's mass psychosis.

I agree. While NO vaccine is 100% reliable, the overwhelming evidence shows that the shots reduce the risk of getting ill, substantially, for the vast majority. We got our shots soon after they became available, and still wear masks and avoid crowds most of the time. The minor inconvenience of wearing a mask, and a slightly sore arm for a day is far better than winding up in the hospital, or morgue.

All this Covid publicity just seems to harden some peoples extremist viewpoints, and helps insure that we will be living with this virus for the foreseeable future.
