Who are you?

Looking into the Tarot deck I am the Hermit. The Hermit suggests that you are in a phase of introspection where you are drawing your attention inwards and looking for answers within. You are in need of and pursuing inner reflection, away from the current demands the world.

A Colorado native who has been gone from Colorado for half my life. Same for my wife of 50+ years!
I took over 10 years to finish college and went back to grad school at 47!
We raised three wonderful kids who all have spouses and kids of their own.
We also have six grandkids two of which are twins...we are blessed!
I retired and began my life of learning.
...learning to play folk music on my guitar
...learning to play blue grass on my banjo
...putting in a new raised bed vegetable garden
...training our Golden Retrievers to run field trials, something we both love doing
...still learning to oil paint landscapes, my late father taught me some when he retired, now I finally have time to work at it...my winter love!
...still learning to fish and hunt birds with my two adult boys, my dogs enjoy the hunts also...
...still reading all I can find about History, primarily the two world wars and the civil war!

The rest of the stuff I do is really hard....

Couldn't agree with you more. And conversely, some of the biggest idiots around have Ph.Ds.
And they are usually the ones that make the biggest deal of their degrees, taking every opportunity to mention them.

My Dad only had 8 years of public school. Most people who talked to him even briefly assumed he had some kind of degree due to his vocabulary, rational thinking and broad general knowledge. He read voraciously, had good retention and knew how to ask the right questions of people who had more education and experience with something he wanted to learn.

Not all of us define ourselves by our 'occupations'. You can see that even in the other.responses. It usually makes for an easier transition to retirement.

Me, I'm a spiritual being on my umpteenth round of inhabiting a human body, focused on learning, determined to be compassionate and helpful despite the realities of this world.

Feywon, based on your posts here, I would say your self-description is spot-on.
