Who have you seen Perform in Person?

So many, so very many:
Dean Martin, Joan Rivers, Sammy Davis Jr (twice, once at his Broadway show) Joey Bishop (part of his studio audience). Dean was so hilarious I still laugh at some of the jokes from his show. Don Rickles.

Beatles-3 times
never saw Rolling Stones but saw most everyone else: Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin, the Who, Jefferson Airplane, Janis Joplin, Flying Burrito Brothers, Van Halen, Laura Nyro, Crosby Stills & Nash, Neil Young, The Ronettes.....

There are many, many more. Living in NYC I've seen rock concerts since I was twelve. It's probably easier to say who I didn't see perform than who I did. The Marvelettes, Dionne Warwick, 5 Satins, oh I don't even want to peruse my list, it would take too long.........The Temptations (original group) many more, many many more.

eta
Jack Benny, Arthur Godfrey, Steve Lawrence & Edie Gorme............
Joan Baez, Peter, Paul & Mary (met Mary in Washington Sq. Park, she actually held my baby boy!)

eta
The Shirelles, the Crystals, Darlene Love, The Chiffons, the Righteous Bros.,
Frank Zappa, Mothers of Invention; the Fugs

eta
BB King (he was so drunk he fell off the stage!)
Lesley Gore
Jay & the Americans, the Four Seasons, the Dovells
Lovin' Spoonful

I'm exhausted, but there is more!

eta
Joe Cocker, America

OMG, how could I forget the Beatles? Believe it or not, they were performing at the Indiana State Fair (I guess even the Beatles had to start out somewhere....) and the tickets were the huge cost of $2. I wasn't even a big fan then, but my best friend HAD to go or she was going to DIE!!!!!! ABSOLUTELY DIE!!!!! THERE WOULD BE NO REASON TO LIIIIIIIVE!

She swore Ringo looked directly at her and she screamed til she swooned. How she could tell that as far away as we were (top of the grandstands at the race track) is beyond me, but she was convinced.

As a child I saw Katharine Hepburn and Robert Helpmann play Portia and Shylock in The Merchant of Venice at the Tivoli in Sydney. Decades later I saw Helpmann in his last ballet role as the Red King in Checkmate at the Sydney Opera House. I also saw Nureyev as Romeo in Romeo and Juliet in Sydney.

I saw Michael Crawford in Barnham in London and Della Reese in concert in San Francisco.
Last ones that I can remember were Neil Diamond, also Art Garfunkel, in Sydney.
Both were a little past their prime but still great performers.

I think I have been very lucky to have had such opportunities in my lifetime.

Oh my, I forgot about Dame Helen Mirren, Sir Ian McKellen, and David Strathairn, in a Broadway production of “Dance of Death.”

Kathleen Turner as Tallulah Bankhead in her one-woman show, “Tallulah.”

Very few come to the areas I live. Charlie Pride & Alan Jackson came many years ago.

I’ve seen several in Vegas, not as many as I should have.

Had a chance to see Ray Charles, but didn't
He did an impromptu concert on a small stage at the Tropicana in Vegas.

I took my sons to see my first concert in 2000. Korn, Kid Rock and Metallica.

Korn wasn’t really my cup of tea. Kid Rock has some mouth (I can’t repeat things he said), but he puts on a good show.

Metallica is a class act. The lead singer had hurt his back..a no show. The remaining members put on an incredible show. Kid Rock helped. They made it up as they went along. They came back 3 months later and gave the original concert for free.

Since then I’ve seen Queen with Paul Rodgers, Evanescence and Breaking Benjamin.

Alice Cooper
Gary Puckett and the Union Gap
Neil Diamond Kenny Rogers
Celtic Women
Neil Sedaka...with Billy Crystal as his opening Act
Glen Campbell
England Dan & John Ford Coley
several others

Since there was not much to do in Phoenix AZ in the summertime when I was younger I have seen too many concerts to list here. Some highlights though
Biggest Surprise-Al Stewart. I liked his music but had no idea what a talented musician he was. And his band was great.
Biggest Disappointment-Jerry Jeff Walker. Looking back shouldn't have been disappointed. He was so drunk he didn't finish the second song.
Biggest Spectacle-Elton John. It was 1976, at the height of his zaniness.
Best Production-Pink Floyd doing Dark Side of the Moon. Enough said
Most Energetic The Pretenders/The Clash. New wave/punk was just taking hold and both bands did not disappoint.
Most Moved-Al Green. He put his heart into each song and the crowd was mesmerized.
My Favorite -U2. I have a spiritual connection with this band and the first time I saw them I felt I had just attended a church revival.

Artists I passed on but regret doing so now : Led Zeppelin, ZZ Top, Tony Bennett, Whitney Houston, Aerosmith, and my biggest regret..The Eagles.

I haven't seen nor met either of those, but I would have loved to...

A long time ago we saw John Denver in concert. We were living in Memphis, TN at the time. We took our two teenage boys (Now they are all grown up). His show was the best I have ever attended, he was an all-around great entertainer! I guess you could say he was "Far Out"!
