Yes. I buy a month's worth at a time.Come on you don't have 3 cartons do you? I will admit that I had about 2 packs left in a carton.
I had a CT of the chest as my insurance started covering as preventative care. It showed the signs of the beggining of emphysema. I cried for a couple of days as I smoked those last two packs. I told myself, when they are gone, I am done. Again, did not think I could do it. I have never bought anymore, I have never bummed one. I know if I light another cigarette, I will have a miserable life and a tragic end. It is time, it is time!!
The multiple problems with my spine are caused by a 60-foot fall that happened 30 years ago, and a few unintentional side effects of the surgery and pharmaceutical treatments immediately afterward.I just read Michelle's messages and am grateful that Frank @Murrmurr is doing better! I was praying also, as I read the responses. He is such a good guy, and one of the best people I/we have met here on SF! Including you, Michelle!!
Frank has to be careful, though. You mentioned he's had this before. Stopping smoking was the first thing that came to my mind for him to do, as others mentioned here.
I would also get a second opinion on Frank's tumor and make sure they check his WHOLE body (so no surprises later on). This is the time to ask questions like -
Will it come back again once it's removed?
What caused the tumor?
How long does it take a tumor like that to grow that size?
Why was it located there and not somewhere else?
Was this a primary tumor or a secondary tumor (caused by another tumor).
These are my thoughts! Good luck and God bless!
I really enjoyed smoking too! I would still be enjoying it if I had not a had a wake up call after that scan. I finally got that there were bad, very bad things that were happening because of smoking. I would go right back to it if that was not the case. I also realized it was not just a habit, I was an addict, did not think I would be me with out smoking. I am still me without smoking. Know I don't have to miss out on anything because I don't have to leave to go smoke. I just don't want you to risk your health or cause heartbreak for those who love you.Yes. I buy a month's worth at a time.
My problem is, I thoroughly enjoy smoking. Best 3 minutes of my day is when I kick back with a cigarette and a cup of tea, some music in the background, or a short video on youtube, maybe playing a game of solitaire. I love those moments.
So, maybe it's not time. But maybe that time is coming.
Oh man, it was the worst pain I've ever had, I think. My right leg and foot felt like they were literally on fire. Literally! And that's how it felt even after both legs went completely numb, which is so weird, but it reminded me of amputees who swear they can still sometimes feel a limb that isn't there anymore.Wow. I just saw this and read the whole thing through in a rush. Whew.
So glad you're back at home, Frank, and that they know what caused it and what to do about it. I just wish you hadn't had to go through so much horrific pain and anxiety.
One bright spot, I 'm glad we all got to meet Michele. What a fine lady, I loved what she wrote about being ready to be your nurse anytime. It was a lucky day for both of you, when she spotted you at the mailbox and took you in hand!![]()
Thanks oldpop! Doing my best.Glad your back Frank. You gave us a scare. Take care.

I totally understand that one.My problem is, I thoroughly enjoy smoking. Best 3 minutes of my day is when I kick back with a cigarette and a cup of tea, some music in the background, or a short video on youtube, maybe playing a game of solitaire. I love those moments.

I know a wonderful woman who would LOVE to buy them from you!But I still have 3 cartons left

Seriously, you need to find something else, to sub right into that same scene that you enjoy so much, Frank. And add another reward for yourself, while you get accustomed to the substitution. My problem is, I thoroughly enjoy
Definitely true. We all benefitted and enjoyed reading, every sentence in the posts that she wrote! One bright spot, I 'm glad we all got to meet Michele. What a fine lady, I loved what she wrote
Don't tell fibs, we all know you are an attention whore.Yeah, you know that that Silver Alert thread? And the other one is Missing Members. I didn't want to show up there after dropping dead or whatever, so I showed Michelle what to do in case that ever happened.
She jumped the gun a bit, but that's ok. Works for falls and paralysis, too.![]()
Well, think about what I thought about on 3rd successful attempt:But I still have 3 cartons left

Okie Dokie@Murrmurr
WELCOME HOME FRANK......and......WELCOME BACK.
That was quite the scare for Michele and your family..and..all of us.
Don't do that again, ok.
That sounds relatively painless. Aside from the flu symptoms. My 'quit smoking' story in a nutshell: 11 yr.s ago early spring had the flu really bad...literally spent 3 days in bed...laying there I realized the nicotine was mostly gone from my body...I decided right there that "now's the time".
Yes, after all the times of feeling like I was torturing myself in trying to quit, it just went very smooth, and never a relapse. That sounds relatively painless. Aside from the flu symptoms.
I have had to call 911 also when I have fallen. They will come, put me in my chair and check vitals. I also ask them to come silent as it always happens in the middle of the night. So glad you are home!!I am glad you are home and feeling better. I hope you will take it to heart to not to hesitate to call 911 even if you only need help getting off of the floor. I would call and say, it is not an emergency, I just need someone to help me get a person off the floor. They would even come silent so as not to disturb the neighborhood. They will check your vitals and make sure there is no concern, just a simple fall.
So now quit smoking, you need to be here for your bride your children, grandchildren and the little boy that adores you!!
I just stay put till it goes away. The leg paralysis, I mean. Usually after about 15-20 minutes, I can get up practically like nothing happened. Just a bit sore for a while.I have had to call 911 also when I have fallen. They will come, put me in my chair and check vitals. I also ask them to come silent as it always happens in the middle of the night. So glad you are home!!
