Do You Have Any "What Ifs"?

I approach it somewhat differently. Instead of 'what if' I ask 'what's the worst that could happen' and then plan from there.
I am similar ...
I do think of what ifs because I have been surrounded by people in my life that always assume everything will be fine.......... and lose their grip when it doesn't.
They end up often making further bad choices in a situation ....... because they did not plan for the worst and make choice under stress.

More often then not the worst NEVER happens but by being ready for it makes it go so much smoother.
If i plan for worst and then the best happens........ it elevates that experience also.

I agree, @Jeni.

I think that "what ifs, what's the worst that can happen or if/then" can help anyone to be somewhat prepared for the future. And it doesn't always mean preparing for negative events.

'Those who fail to plan plan to fail'

Stop heading down that path. Planning is one thing, driving yourself nuts worrying about endless possibilities is quite another. I deal with life as it comes. Having a financial cushion helps, and knowing my daughter is capable and caring is also comforting.
I so agree. When younger and responsible for lives I brought into the world, so many "what ifs" needed to be teased out and contingency plans made.

DH and I have a strong marriage, are geographically and emotionally close to our three children, have a financial plan in place, eat healthy foods, get a reasonable amount of exercise, stay in touch with good friends, relatives and neighbors, and avoid the highly toxic 24 hour news cycle.

More than that I cannot do and try to not worry about - just deal with what arises.

What if I hadn't excepted my friend's request to go out with her and her friends one Sunday when I was 15yrs old. I would never have met my husband, had our 2 kids, and 3 Grandkids. After many many years, I am really happy I excepted her request.

I have already endured some of those what if's. Somehow I managed to get through every horrible thing I had thrown at me so far. Husband passed, Mother passed, InLaws and all of the older generation of the family are gone.

The world is not the same place anymore for me. I just take it a day at a time, that is all I can do. I don't talk to that guy What If anymore. He is not worth my time.

What if every working person in the U.S. gave me a dollar. They'd never miss it, but I'd make extremely good use of the 100s of millions. So what do you say, America?
Address please, I will send one to get your fortune started. The only thing you have to do is buy me a good pizza when your rolling in the dough. LOL
