The sentencing of Ghislaine Maxwell is underway.

A live look at the Manhattan Federal court shows media milling about as the world waits to learn Maxwell's fate.

She faces up to 55 years in jail today when she is sentenced for recruiting and trafficking underage girls for Jeffrey Epstein.

The Judge has announced that despite a possible sentence of up to 55 years.. they will not impose that on Maxwell... the judge has taken the decision to only impose a sentence that would have been the maximum in 2003 when the offences took place.. and not those which are relevant now.. and that will be a maximum of 19.5 years.. ...court will resume soon, with victim impact statements
 
Prosecutors produced a 58-page household manual covering every single aspect of running the house in Palm Beach that they indicated Maxwell had written. There were dozens of checklists for each area of the house, instructions on when to replace the toothpaste and what brands of creams to buy.

One instruction to all household staff that was seized on by the prosecution read: 'You see nothing, hear nothing, say nothing'.

But the core of the prosecution was the testimony of four women who said they were victimized by Maxwell and Epstein at tender ages.

Three testified using first names or pseudonyms to protect their privacy: Jane, a television actress; Kate, a former model from Great Britain; and Carolyn, now a mom recovering from drug addiction.

The fourth was Farmer, who chose to use her real name after being vocal about her allegations in recent years.

The most gut wrenching was Carolyn who testified that she was one of several underprivileged teens who lived near Epstein's Florida home in the early 2000s and took up an offer to give massages in exchange for $100 bills.

Maxwell made all the arrangements, Carolyn told the jury, even though she knew the girl was only 14 at the time.

I wonder if Andrew is glued to the news today ?.. He must be wondering if anything further might happen to him.. surely.. or would he be arrogant enough to believe that since he's paid one of the women, that he's untouchable ?

well they must have had quite a hold or paid extremely well as in so many things here in government etc is leaked by staff....

I know there is some different opinions on this but ....... even the girls most likely had a clue as to why they were being PAID very well to give massages when these people could well afford a professional massage therapist......
Girls regardless of the home situation have a clue about why .....

Judge Alison Nathan handed down the 240-month sentence, followed by five years supervised release in Manhattan federal court. The judge imposed a fine of $750,000.

Before the sentencing Maxwell, appearing in a blue prison uniform with shackles around her ankles, addressed the court and said she was 'fooled' by Epstein.

'I realize I have been convicted of assisting Jeffrey Epstein to commit these crimes,' she said. 'My association with Epstein will permanently stain me. It is the biggest regret of my life that I ever met him.'

She added that Epstein 'fooled all of those in his orbit.'

Before she spoke, Maxwell was forced to face her sex trafficking victims as they gave dramatic testimony.

Sorry, I did not mean it that way
I just find it interesting people knew and followed instructions and people who sign contracts of non disclosure here seem to not understand secrecy.........

She's going to be in prison with a lot of women who were abused as children and might take out a little revenge on her. Awww...

wow does she expect people to believe she was fooled.........
 
Was she eligible for parole with time served or does she have a minimum amount of years before being eligible?
 
She's not eligible for Parole .. she will serve the full 20 years...

The judge imposed a fine of $750,000 and recommended she be sent to the Danbury, Connecticut, Federal Correctional Institution..which is a low security prison

yes it would have been Tish, except the Judge decided to give her the maximum sentence that was lawful the year that the crimes took place which was 2003... and the maximum then was 20 years, and that's what the judge gave her.

Ms. Maxwell worked with Epstein to select young victims who were vulnerable and played a pivotal role in facilitating sexual abuse,' Judge Nathan said, making it clear the case called for a 'very significant sentence' that sent an 'unmistakable message' that such crimes would be punished.

There is no parole for federal prison, so Maxwell is likely to serve the entire 20-year sentence, but could potentially be released a few years early for good behavior.

After the sentencing, Maxwell's attorney Bobbi Sternheim said outside the courthouse, 'Our client Ghislaine Maxwell has been vilified, pilloried and left little room for her to be treated fairly.

'Because even before she stropped forward into this courthouse, she was being tried and convicted in the court of public opinion.

'Ghislaine will appeal this case and we're confident she will prevail on appeal.'

Attorney will keep appealing it til money runs out.

Regardless of their home situation, GIRLS don't have the mature judgement and insight that full grown women do.

No one said they did ........
I just think too many people give too much benefit of doubt to the idea they just did not have an idea that more was expected etc..

There are literally tons of TV or movies that have shown the ruse for decades.....
i was aware at that age and that was a while ago.... my daughter was also aware and would have seen red flags .....
yet we pretend these girls were clueless....
regardless that has no impact on Ms. Maxwell's part but
this is a prime example to USE in educating people that yes there are these predators out there....yet i see no effort in educating someone who may be approached by a similar dirt bag and his wing woman.
