Postal Delivery - Does it come to your door?

Our postal delivery service (Canada Post) has phased out door to door delivery in many areas and seniors have to pick up mail at community postal boxes.
Has the mail delivery in your community changed or do you still get door to door delivery?
 

We still get door to door delivery...and hopefully that will never change.


At my house in Spain we have communal mail boxes


.and they are a real pain in the butt because half of everyone's mail is left sticking out of the mail box for anyone passing to help themselves..or worse they are jammed full of advertising leaflets and no room left for the regular mail..

We have a mailbox in front of our house, so yes, door to door delivery. If there's a package or registered letter, they ring the doorbell.
 
They deliver to our mailbox by the road which is 1/8th mile from our house. The small town I once lived in didn't have regular door to door delivery. People used boxes at the post office.
 
Yep we have mailbox slots in our front door too..Postman only has to knock if he has a parcel. If we're out when he tries to deliver a paracel which is too big for the letterbox he leaves a card and we can either ring and get them to deliver on another day or go and collect it from the sorting office ourselves..

My daughter lives in the mountains in Rural Spain the nearest village is 8 km's away..the postal service won't go up to her property , so she has to drive down the mountain to the tiny Correos in the nearest village once a week to collect her mail.

Our postmen know that if we aren't home they can open the outer front door and put a package in the entryway. We don't lock the outer door unless on holiday.
 
I still get home delivery, into my door slot because I'm in an apartment building but many urban residents and suburban residents here now have to pick up their mail at community boxes. This is proving to be difficult for people with older seniors and people with disabilities.

Guessing she doesn't go every day!
 
We get our mail delivery, 6 days a week, to our mailbox at the end of our gravel drive...100 yards from the house. If its a package or FedEx/UPS, they drive up to the house and ring the doorbell.

The US Postal Service is increasingly having trouble funding itself. Here is a small trick I've used, for years, to help them out. Every week, we seem to get at least a dozen pieces of Junk Mail with postage paid return envelopes. I collect that trash, and periodically send it back to them...with my name, address, etc., removed, of course. That way, these advertisers have to pay the postal service to get their junk mail returned. It's just a small thing...perhaps a couple of dollars a week, but if it helps keep the Post offices open, I'll continue. Just think, if more people did this, it could result in some serious cast flow to the USPS.
 
Yes, I still get mail delivered to my door. The postman puts it through a slot which drops down into a little cage. It's cute but often gets stuffed too full so then they just drop the rest of the mail on the front porch.
 
We still have door to door where I live and it's needed. I wouldn't want to have to drive up into the village to get to the Post Office.
 
I had a postie boyfriend at one time - he got up at 4:00 a.m. to go do the sorting and deliveries and was back home by 1:00 p.m. He walked miles and miles every day carrying the heavy mail bag. They finally figured it out and gave the carriers carts.
 
I get mail in my mailbox at my door. All I ever get is junk mail and advertising, though, especially since I've gone paperless with bills and such. I must say that for me at least, except for packages, the mail is pretty worthless. I just bring it in and shred it.
