Female shooter, 37, fired multiple shots 'into the air' at Dallas Love Field Airport

A woman fired several shots in the air at the baggage check-in area near a ticket counter in Dallas Love Field Airport, Texas, before she was shot by a police officer.

The suspect, 37, opened fire and shot several rounds of a handgun just before 11am this morning as terrified passengers hid under chairs and were evacuated amid the active shooting.

Shortly after opening fire, a police officer at the scene confronted the woman - shooting and injuring her.

She was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital, where she remains, police said. The Federal Aviation Administration also issued a ground stop at the airport.

Dallas Chief of Police Eddie Garcia said that the 37-year-old woman went into the restroom at the airport before emerging with a gun and firing most of the shots at the ceiling.

When I was in Japan about 25 years ago they were having problems with protestors at Narita. Security got moved back to the roads leading into the Tokyo airport. Got checked a mile or so before getting there. Don't think they still do th

Parkland is a public hospital here, provides services for many that do not have insurance or access to a doctor. It is also one of the best trauma centers around.

Warrigal, I think the Y chromosome theory is still basically correct. There will always be an exception or two. This woman is clearly mentally disturbed. Of course, most of the other mass shooters are, also, but it's probably a mental "disturbance" that happens to young men much more often.

WHY??!!! Another WTH are people thinking?!! Sometimes I think they want to be put in jail for the free food and roofs over their heads. As far as mentally ill people being able to get guns...if they can't get them from gun sellers, there are plenty of illegal ones on the streets, I'm sure. Actually in most states convicted felons cannot, legally anyway. It varies a bit from state to state, but we have a lot of private unregulated sales and exchanges.
