Alex Jones' company files for bankruptcy amid Texas trial to award damages to Sandy Hook families

His creditors will scrutinize his Petition inside and out to determine that.
What’s the odds that these people will see even a dime? What happens if he is found to have money deposited offshore? Would that country freeze his assets until the courts have made their judgments?

Foreign governments are not bound to freeze accounts, but I suppose they could if thier law permitted it and they were requested to. His Petition must include such assets though, or that is a big no-no!

Yes, I can think of no good reason for this guy, and others
of his ilk, to continue to exist.
Put in pure and simple real life facts. Greed, fame and massive ego. They are all laughing on their way to the bank. They don't believe the B.S. they spread, it's about all of the above. I have always thought if a person has a platform that large why not spread kindness. Oh, I'm thinking other people think like me again. How stupid.

If he spread kindness instead a fear and hatred, he'd loose his audience. There's no market for that kind of thing.

Plus, he'd be labeled a "communist." 🤣

I’m no lawyer, but is there a difference with how the suit is filed. For example; I would venture to guess that if the suit was filed against the company, it would be treated differently if it was filed against the individual. Right or wrong?
Right. The Petition is a Chapter 11 one, Organizational, not Personal.

When I saw the news about the damages he'd have to pay, I wondered if he even had that much money, because when defendants don't...that type of award is pointless. I'm glad they won their case and that he is being taken to the cleaners. What he did to those grieving parents and all who knew those children was horrible.

They haven't yet determined punitive damages. Hope they throw the book at him.

Even with news articles quoting what he said, does anything think that his followers read and/or believe them? Anyone stupid enough, and it seemed there were lots, to have believed that garbage and hate he spewed originally still likely think he’s great. He’ll remain a manipulator.

How convenient....that bankruptcy was filed BEFORE the verdict came out.

I hope he gets "what he deserves"

Deplorable "human being"
while deplorable this tactic has been used by many people and corporations ..... to avoid payments......... individuals transferring money to family or someone... so IF a verdict is reached they have ZERO assets

Honestly surprised that courts have not made rules about this but ......not ALL defendants are found liable ...
maybe a loophole that needs addressed but how cannot hold assets of all ....... just in case

That is known as a Fraudulent Conveyance. If caught, the Bankruptcy will be denied. Not only that, the Petition specifically asks if any transfers have been made within so many years, 5 I believe. If answered in a lie, that is also Bankruptcy fraud, the the FBI investigates.

it CAN be denied but seldom is .... what is in books as law and actual practice IMO often does not match.........
If it is selective enforcement that leads us down another path

I am so glad the parents of one of those Sandy Hook kids took this piece of scum to court. According to today's paper, they were awarded only a small fraction of what they asked for. But the case isn't finished yet. I hope a whole social movement arises out of this.

I keep reading about two years worth of Jones' text messages that were sent to the lawyers of the Sandy Hook parents by mistake and these lawyers are going to send it on to the Jan 6 committee....sounds like there will be more trouble in Alex Jones' future.

The jury has now decided on the punitive damages against Alex Jones - $45.2 million

Wesley Ball, an attorney for Scarlett Lewis and Neil Heslin, whose 6-year-old son, Jesse, was killed in the attack in Newtown, Connecticut, had asked the jury to award them $149.5 million to reach the $150 million they initially sought.

Ball argued that only such a large sum would be enough to "take the bullhorn away" from Jones.

"I ask that with your verdict, you not only take Alex Jones’ platform that he talks about away. I ask that you make sure that he can’t rebuild the platform. That’s what matters," he said. "That is punishment, that is deterrence."

Jones' attorney Andino Reynal told jurors they had already sent a message to Jones and other talk show hosts with the $4.1 million judgment that “their standard of care has to be different.”

Alex Jones must pay more than $45 million in punitive damages to the family of a Sandy Hook massacre victim, jury orders (nbcnews.com)

I figured there's probably a look back period in these cases (like what Medicaid does) when Bankruptcy is declared. So you've answered a question I had in my mind.

I have a friend who has a colleague she considers a friend. She told me yesterday that he's been following Alex Jones and is always trying to get her to listen to his show. She kept telling him the guy is pushing fake news that's garbage and he's a shyster, but her friend doesn't want to hear it. It's amazing how many people are willing to follow these shysters...and remember Harold Camping (the world is going to end in 2011). I know a couple who went to California to meet him. Thank God they didn't sell all their possessions like so many others did. People sent him thousands of dollars as well.
@RadishRose @Warrigal
@StarSong I just saw he's down for $45.5 million plus the 4 million. With the other cases coming up, I hope he really finds himself bankrupt.
