.. and on the other side of the coin, there are those who live in opulence .. very sad. This would drive you insane living like this... and there's thousand in Honk Kong who do...
yes.. there are 19 billionaires.. not much in a population of 7.1 million people...IMO.... and on the other side of the coin, there are those who live in opulence .. very sad.
It won't be long.yes.. there are 19 billionaires.. not much in a population of 7.1 million people...IMO..
However the HUGE cost of square footage of homes , and the prevalence of Cage homes.. I mean in that video, people have been living in a 6 foot cage home for 30 years.. ..just doesn't make sense to me.
Honk Kong is 1,114 sq kilometres in area.. with 7.1 million population.. and up until 12 years ago the Uk ruled Hong Kong
London with an area of not much more.. 1,572 square KM.. has a population of 8.9 million... 66 Billionaires ...and NO Cage Homes..![]()
And it's certainly not the billionaires that are making that difference. People with that kind of money do not live in the same world that the majority are in. It almost appears they don't even know the majority exists.yes.. there are 19 billionaires.. not much in a population of 7.1 million people...IMO..

I don't think there is any large metropolitan area where there isn't a huge disparity between the rich and poor. It always rankles our sense of fairness. I don't know a way to even the score. Even when we were running around in deerskins, somebody always had a bigger section of the cave.
There are very few people living in Cages in any of the other richest countries in the world..simply because the cost of Land is beyond any affordable price.. currently at the moment.. the price of an average home is $184,000 Hong Kong Dollars PER SQUARE METRE which is approx.. $24,170 US dollars Per SQUARE Metre ......the average salary is $20,000 HK per monthI don't think there is any large metropolitan area where there isn't a huge disparity between the rich and poor. yes but at least they're out in the open, they have access to outside, albeit with sewerage running along beside their homes, they have at least one whole room to themselves if not 2 .. ... in HK the people are sleeping locked up with the Rats ... in a CAGE only 6feet long...I saw some slums in India where the living conditions made that look like a particularly nice Motel 6.
I agree Remy... how can 30 years living in a cage, with barely enough money when the rent is paid to buy TP or water..?be called living..it's just heartbreakingThat's not living. How incredibly sad.
yes I believe so, but the point is it stand on pretty much the same size acreage as London... and it has over a Million less people.. and London has no such cage homes...I can't find it. It's a pic of the street one of the huge LA film studios are on. It's neat and clean, boulevard, not some trash strewn back lane. It's the street all those limos use to get into the studios. and with somebody living in a tent right in the middle of the sidewalk. A tent or a cage, I'm not sure which is better. At least, there's some available land. Isn't Hong Kong an island, or several islands with very little buildable land left for anything?
I was just going to mention India, where they have a caste system. Those of the lowest caste as treated as outcasts. I don't know what point hollydolly is trying to make but there are people living in squalor in all countries of the world.I saw some slums in India where the living conditions made that look like a particularly nice Motel 6.
the point I'm trying to make is that no other country makes working people or people who have retired from working their whole lives, have to live in Cages.. because they don't earn enough to buy or even rent property...I was just going to mention India, where they have a caste system. That is different in what way to becoming homeless because people don't have enough money? This makes no sense. Millionsthe point I'm trying to make is that no other country makes working people or people who have retired from working their whole lives, have to live in Cages.. because they don't earn enough to buy property...
Back in the 60's, when Hong Kong was under British rule, the ship I was on paid numerous visits to Hong Kong. I walked the streets of Hong Kong and Kowloon many times and never saw poverty. In fact it seemed quite prosperous. On the other hand, since the departure of the UK, Hong Kong has been ruled for 25 years by the Chinese Communist Party -- not what I would call the "West's economic model".That is so true. Those who have more take it for granted. If you are on the have side of the equation why worry about those who don't have. We conditioned the west's economic model to enrich the individual, not to take care of human well being. The only way this will turn around, is either by voting in compassionate, equality seeking candidates, or by grass roots revolution... which is certainly a possibility.
