Actually yes I would even have them for breakfast. They are quite the delicacy in the east. Yummy street food. Very common. But, would I eat them in the street? Would I eat them in a house? A Box? or would I eat them in a car? I think I would eat my Roasted Rice Rats ( RRR for short ) ANYWHERE!

Not if I knew what they were and definitely not prepared like that. I have eaten rabbits so I guess a rodent is a rodent. My father would prepare the rabbits by gutting, removing the fur, cutting off the head and separating the legs from the the torso after cutting off the feet. My mother cooked them and they were actually quite good but you had to watch for the stray buckshot.

Yikes! I loathe rats! A friend of mine used to work with rats in the laboratory and I attended one of her experiments, and they were mean and vicious. I shudder at how eager they were to bite her. However, if there is scarcity of food and people are hungry....

I spent most of 1967 in Thailand, and some of the local "cuisine" would make most people here "upchuck". Various insects were common in the local diets, and the "open air" meat markets, in that hot humid weather, were filled with all sorts of rancid choices.
The rice fields were full of huge Water Bugs, and you could always tell who the rice farmers were....they all had long thumbnails which they used to pop the heads off these huge bugs, so they could suck out and eat the rice these bugs had consumed.

Yeah, we live trapped a couple wood rats out at the cabin.
They tried real hard to bite thru the cage.

I did once have guinea pig in Ecuador, wasn't too impressed.
We (most of us) are carnivores. So long as its safe I don't know why we would eat one meat over another. Just a matter of taste, availability, and cost.
My great great grandfather ate a lot of rats when he was a prisoner on Johnson's Island, or so the family legend goes...

Oh man, I just got shivers. I am a queasy eater (hubby's terms). I gross out with some foods and am almost eating zero beef. When you typed teeth and all... I honestly got shivers. I guess I would be eating grass if that is all we had. Grazing like a cow enjoying every bite.
