Husband beats wife for being in the Hair Salon

I don't think we should just stick our heads in the sand and pretend these appalling practices don't take place just because "it's their country." Would we feel the same if a country's custom is to kill every female newborn in a family until a male was born first? Or maybe their custom is to chain women to a bedpost for the rest of her life if she made the horrible mistake of going outside without her husband's permission?

The term is human rights, not American rights. We shouldn't just turn a blind eye and say, "not our problem". I wonder how long it would go unchecked until it is our problem.
Couldn't agree More...

I agree, but we need to be realistic about what we can do. Recent experiences trying to force our way of life on others, like Iraq and Afghanistan, have just made matters worse.

What I think we can do is expose human rights violations when the happen, and provide education and support to those within the countries trying to make changes.

I agree here .

You jump to a lot of conclusions. It's a vicious cycle.

You're not the only person who knows a thing or ten.

The truth of the matter is no one should be dominated. The truth of the matter is that there are a lot of men who need to be taught a number of things. For starters, if you want to pick on someone, pick on someone your own size... and don't mansplain... and don't ass..ume what works for you also works for others.

How people handle their relationships and divide chores is their business. There might be very good reasons for the choices they make as to who does what. I wouldn't presume to tell them that's “not the way to do it”. They should do what works best for them and not be constrained by an antiquated view of what gender roles “should be”. Some people are stuck in a time warp and just can't accept or understand that.

LOL! I am not Harley Quinn and have no fantasies nor illusions about my physical capabilities. I don't need to knock out a 6'2" 250 lb man to put him in his place or to see that he is put in his place.

Now go pick on someone your own size! 🙂

Bella ✌️

I jumped to no conclusions . Pretty much a fact that if .... you were to say ... shoot an abusive spouce/SO ?? You will very likely spend some time in prison. And no Ass-umption here either .

"I wouldn't presume to tell them that's “not the way to do it”. They should do what works best for them and not be constrained by an antiquated view of what gender roles “should be"

I agree but ..... these "hollywood" versions of the P/whipped Mr mom ..... and the ones I have seen in public, are really not helping the true life situations.

" I don't need to knock out a 6'2" 250 lb man to put him in his place or to see that he is put in his place."

Well if push comes to shove ..... yes you really do .... unless you plan a weapon in your defence / in which case we're back to possible prison time.

If your "other" plan is to bitch/holler/ yell/scold ? ....... all that does is fuel the fire of violence inside many men.

All that said ...... I have never even raised my hand to a women .... My Ex used to get so aggrivated because i would not argue with her ...... I'd go for a ride in my truck ......... or go play with the dog next door...... <grin>

You sound like one thoroughly horrible individual.

WoW ! ...... You have concluded your opinion about me ..... based on just what you read here ? Again, WoW ! .... I wish I had your insight and clairvoyance .

If it makes your day better , to attack/slander me ? Please ... enjoy your day.

I can understand the angry responses to my post. It was meant to show how widespread this type of abuse is occurring, and it is in every nook and cranny in this world. What can we do about it? I don't know, and it keeps going and getting worse. I am a passivist, and can only imagine why this happens. I dated a young woman who worked at a women's shelter. I met several of the women there. It was awful. I heard all the stories of abuse. How the women would go back to their abusers for many different reasons. I personally think these men should be castrated. I bet that would be a deterrent.

Actually, it is our problem, and I don't think a lot of us realize how much of a problem it is. After I moved to Oklahoma I found out Oklahoma has never ratified the equal rights amendment and has the highest incarceration rate per capita for women of anywhere in the world.

That statistic doesn't surprise me because:

"The United States has the highest prison and jail population (2,121,600 in adult facilities in 2016), and the highest incarceration rate in the world (655 per 100,000 population in 2016)."

For some reason, I would have thought the distinction would have gone to China, North Korea or Russia. I guess we are exceptional in many ways.

In Saudi Arabia women are nothing but prisoners forced to breed more Saudis.
There has been significant improvement of women's rights in Saudi Arabia since 2017...

In the World Economic Forum's Global Gender Gap Report 2022, Saudi Arabia was ranked 127th out of 146 countries.[6] In the World Bank's 2021 Women, Business, and the Law index, Saudi Arabia scored 80 out of 100, an above-average global score.[18][19] The United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) elected Saudi Arabia to the U.N. Commission on the Status of Women for 2018 to 2022, which was widely criticized by the international community.[20][21] According to the World Bank, Saudi Arabia made significant improvements to working conditions for women between 2017 and 2020, addressing issues of mobility, sexual harassment, pensions, and workplace rights including employment-discrimination protections.

In a shocking act caught on camera in a Hair salon in Turkmenistan.. a husband is filmed punching and kicking his wife...HARD

The brutality comes as a new environment of female oppression takes hold in the authoritarian ex-Soviet state Turkmenistan. Husbands can be fined if their wives receive certain beauty or cosmetic treatments.

The Turkmen government has increased control over women’s rights since new President Serdar Berdymukhammedov came to power in March, succeeding his father, Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov, with 73 per cent of the vote in an election that international observers said was neither free nor fair.

Video, here..

Seriously I just want to reach in and punch his lights out.. I'm so angry for her..
He wouldn't live through the night if he did that crap to me. I'd kill him in his sleep for sure.

I understand you... that's what we always think we'd do.. I thought about it many times, and never had the courage, and also I kept thinking that I might go to prison for life, when in fact I was the victim..

When my mother was getting beaten.. as we got older we got braver, even knowing that we'd get a beating for doing it.. as young teens we'd pull our father off my mother, by his hair , by anything we could... One time he was choking her and she was about to die, and we couldn't get him off.. so my brother ran for a carving knife and stuck it in his arm.. it was enough for him to release my mother..

My heart breaks for women and children living under such horrific conditions.

Too bad Putin didn't invade that country instead of Ukraine. The world might have cheered him on.
Well he did try that in Afghanistan, was smart enough to get out in 9 years.

I just know how I am. There's no way in hell I would ever tolerate a man beating on me ever. I'm sorry you had to go through that too.

Years ago, my ex-husband pinned me against the garage door and put his hands around my throat because I came home late. For some reason the line Scarlett said from Gone With The Wind came into my mind, and I said, "take your hands off me!" I think it surprised him, and he did. We divorced not long after that. He was a jealous *rick.

I just don't understand the mindset that people have that they think it's perfectly ok to just beat the hell out of someone just because. Those people need a trip to the country with a bag over their head and to be beaten with baseball bats by some big fellas and left on the side of the road.
