12 new members in the last 24-48 hours

We've had an influx of new members lately. What I've noticed is that more than half of them haven't posted introductions. They've obviously perused the forum before joining and must've seen the Introduction forum, so I wonder why they've neglected to introduce themselves. 🤔 I don't think they're shy because most jump right in, posting right after joining or they start a thread. I'm glad they're joining, but wish they'd introduced themselves. I suspect we'll have even more people joining. Right now there are 241 "visitors" online. There are always a lot of visitors online.

I have been curious also because on a forum I used to be on there were instances of people having two or three, I don't know what to call it now, like having three different personalities on a forum. I have kind of wondered about this on this forum.
oh yes we have had that here too... the laughable thing is that we don't say anything and these people don't realise we know... and then there's always the imaginary cousin or brother of someone who joins.. which in fact is the same member posing as a different person.. that's happened several times

Well said. I was thinking of this, earlier.

Every so often I look up my introductorary post to remind myself what I posted almost ten years ago.

Those members who have been around for some time may like to judge whether or not I was telling truth about myself. Has anyone else looked back on their own intro and would you rewrite it if you had the opportunity?

I'm not sure what I have to offer this forum but I am interested to learn from the current members.

I'm an Australian of relatively distant British ancestry. In my working life I was a high school teacher of maths, science, computing and to a lesser extent, design and technology.

Australians are great travellers and enjoy longer holidays than workers in many other countries. I, together with my husband of 50 years, have been fortunate enough to have travelled all over Australia and have also visited many other countries including England, Scotland and Wales, the USA including Hawaii, Canada, Greece, Turkey, Egypt, Kenya, New Zealand, China, Papua New Guinea and a number of Sth Pacific Islands. I will be very interested in the travel threads on this forum.

I am interested in science, the natural environment and politics. I am also a Christian whose approach to my religion is to be a voice and supporter of the poor and disadvantaged of the world so I guess I would be called a liberal in the US and a leftie in my own country. I owe no political party my allegiance because my allegiance is focussed on a higher plane.

I like to argue. Where everyone seems to be in agreement I will either move on without comment or I might just start arguing a contrary viewpoint but I always try to respect all viewpoints and especially try to respect the person expressing something with which I disagree. When I get to know people more and feel they know me I can get rather cheeky. In Australia we call this "being a stirrer". Stirring is something of a national past time so be warned. The stirrer expects the stirree to respond in kind. It is a kind of verbal tennis and it never matters who wins. It is the game that matters, not the end point.

Hoping the above information helps you all to interpret my posts. I will try to avoid Aussie colloquialisms and may have to seek translations of your local lingo.

No , I haven't looked back at my intro .. I must make a point of doing that...

What is the purpose of that? He/she must have an excellent memory and organizational skills. That's a lot of work.
that's usually how they're found out because they always seem to forget what was said at some point by the Alias .. I remember on one forum one person was caught actually answering themselves.. in that they posted as '' for example'' Alex,, when they were really Emma.. and instead of answering alex as Emma.. they answered Alex as Alex.. :ROFLMAO:

On the subject of age .....I just cannot understand how one can be called a senior at age 50.
When I was 50 I never thought of myself as a senior and didn't til I was in my 60's.
For me a senior is at earliest, age 60, and my daughter who is now 62 will kill me if she ever were to read this !😱
