Solar eclipse and northern lights.

An interesting week here in UK in space.
we have a solar eclipse on Friday morning....80 to 95% depending on where you live.
there is also a display of Northern Lights in the north of the country, last night and maybe tonight as well.
i just hope it is not cloudy!
anybody see any Northern lights last night?

Stargazing live is on the TV at the moment; they are interviewing Buzz Aldrin; and there are still people who believe US never landed on the moon.....worrying.
 

I've enjoy the aurora borealis many times, once even in Arkansas. However, there was one occasion when I was four years old and this was told to me by my parents that they woke me out of a sound sleep and hustled me outside in my PJs to see the aurora borealis. I was not and appreciative viewer at all, probably never really woke up. When asked about my reaction the next morning I could honestly say that I had no idea what they were talking about. In retrospect I can't fault my parents for thinking that I was a rather dull child.

I am not surprised that you weren't interested!
i was woken up by my Dad to watch the moon landing; but I was quite a lot older.....black and white TV!
 

Vivjen, I hope you get to enjoy them! :) I've only seen the northern lights when I was younger, in Canada and Alaska...a sight to behold, loved to watch them dancing.
 
didn't see any lights here, but have just been explaining what will happen on Friday morning( eclipse of the sun) to my grandson, he is autistic and I thought he may be worried or scared as he will be at school then.He wasn't inclined to believe me however, but he was intrigued by the idea.He said he had never seen it happen before so why should it happen now?I hope the teacher will prepare them all beforehand, otherwise I wouldn't like to be him !!
