Lubberwort (noun) - a lazy, stupid person.

In the 16th century, a lubberwort was the name of an imaginary plant which caused sluggishness, laziness and stupidity, and at some point, the word started to be used as an insult.

The word lubberwort is back in use in Calif, but without the "wort" part. A "lubber" is a self-centered slob, usually dull-minded, unreliable, and very overweight.
