Gentlemen: Which of these Star Trek characters are you most like? Spock, Kirk or McCoy?

Gaer

"Angel whisperer"
Pertaining to the original Star Trek series:

Gene Rodenberry and his imaginative writers gave each of these men their own distinctive personality. Brilliant dialog aside,
of the three, who's personality do you think you most emulate?

Ladies, (can't forget you) Which of the three fictional characters would you find most attractive?
Most of you will say Spock, of course, but I thought Dr. McCoy would be the most loving and fun to be around.
What about you?

You left out Scottie. I like a dependable man with practical know how.

Years ago, I had car trouble on the way home from Queensland to Sydney. I was travelling with my mother and a young PE teacher from UK and decided to take the inland route. Just before the Queensland border we blew a radiator hose and the engine block overheated. We were towed to the nearest town (Goondiwindi pron Gun-da-wind-i) and stayed two nights in a motel while the engine block was sent off for machining.

It was January and very hot so most of the time we stayed in the motel room with the air con on. Nothing seemed to be happening next door at the garage. Just before we arrived a group of aboriginies had driven up from below the border and for some reason had trashed the local hotel. This did not encourage us to spend a lot of time outside our room.

It was late in the afternoon when we were told the car was ready and I did not feel like spending another night at the motel so we headed out of town but there was a noise under the bonnet that sounded very ominous. Driving very carefully we made it to the next town on the highway but the motel was closed for the night so we booked into the pub. The noise coming from the bar was not reassuring but the breakfast in the morning was a real treat.

Advised where to go to have the car looked at we handed it over to the mechanic who sounded exactly like Montgomerey Scott of The Enterprise. I just knew that everything would be OK and before lunch we were on our way again and arrived home without further incident.

The young PE teacher from UK reckoned it was the most interesting holiday she had had to date.

“Spock” is most compatible with my odd personality:

Star Trek: The Myers-Briggs® Personalities Of Captain Kirk & The Original Enterprise Crew

“Spock's INTP personality type is defined largely by his dominant half-Vulcan heritage. A man of philosophy, deep thought and (of course) logic, Spock would rather seek out the mysteries of the universe than spend time gallivanting across the galaxy in search of new adventures.

To him, the need to understand is his primary driving force.

INTPs often display an analytical approach to life, and their personal relationships can appear detached, as a result. Spock is no exception. He's difficult to know, primarily because his focus is elsewhere. Yet, his sense of duty and honor are outmatched among Starfleet's finest.”

The Golden Pair: The Compatibility for an INTP and INFJ Relationship

“INTP and INFJ can naturally be themselves around each other. In fact, they are attracted to the odd behaviors of the other. INTP finds an INFJ endearing, sacred, mesmerizing, a fun companion, and lovely. The INFJ will find the INTP to be complete, intelligent, a never-ending conversation buddy, charming, and memorable.”

i guess my personality is like Doc. I always have that furrowed eye brow thing happening. :)

Majel Barrett Roddenberry, who married Gene R. in August of 1969, once said that the central 3 (Kirk, Spock, McCoy) were all aspects of her husband's Character and i can see that. As Warrigal said Scotty a more a sensible choice than any of them. i was fond of Sulu and Spock when watching the show back then. We live, learn and tastes change.
By the time Next Generation was airing i was more attracted to Picard than any from TOS.

I would be Captain Christopher Pike because he gets the beautiful girl in the end.
Beep.

Have you watched the new 'Strange New Worlds'? Different actor playing Pike--had to be due to it being set before he was injured and goes to live in the illusion, but as attractive--both personality and physically. The character first appeared on 'Discovery' which i heavy on alternate timeline plot--and while Pike helped that crew, he also chose to go back to his own time-line--knowing the fate that awaits him. Talk about some twisted appeal factors--he's a compassionate man with sense of duty, honor...who's future is 'written' (at least for now).

i like ST:SNW because it harks back to the exploratory plots of TOS.

I really can't say as I've never watched Star Trek. I know, I know, how could I not. My kids weren't into it, and I didn't want to go where no one had gone before.
Big SciFi fans in our family. i watched original series with my Mom (who crushed on Kirk, predictably). My boys were in early teens and daughter 5 when Next Generation came along. Between us we've watched every incarnation of it. Each of us preferred some iterations and some individual characters more than others did. Just as my boys always preferred Stephen King and i preferred Dean Koontz for scary 'thriller' books. But we had some lively and interesting discussions about it all.

But then i often used both books and shows as ways to discuss values, acceptable and unacceptable behaviors without it being my preaching to them. Because the 'universe', albeit one that has alternate timelines and dimensions, Roddenberry created was the foundation of all the series, there was enough common ground for us discuss specific ones some of us had seen and some hadn't.

After STNG, I stopped watching TV entirely. So I am not familiar with SNW. Once in a while I'll find old TV shows on YouTube from the simpler, happier days of a time long past. Besides Star Trek, Boston Blackie, Amos n' Andy and Twilight Zone are my faves.

Decades ago some friends referred to me as Spock given my ability to suppress emotions with a smile during discussions and debate most others cannot. Served me well over decades in professional corporate environments. All the rest of the Star Trek cast were given very emotional roll to reflect their tv audiences.
