Sign Pollutuon

Aunt Mavis

I have met the enemy and he is us. Pogo
I’d vote for anyone and everyone that refused to use signs as a way to get elected. They’re bad for the environment, distracting to drivers and installed by idiots with hammers. Aunt Mavis knocks them down on her daily walk around the block, a crime but…..Lol.

Never mind the signs, it's election time AND Medicare open enrolment time. My poor mailbox is crammed with "Vote for Jones," and, "Jones is' a SOB- Don't Vote for him". mail and Fliers from every Med. Advantage Company on the planet. Why is it that I'm saving so much money on a Medicare plan, do I have to shell out money to join it.

There seems to be an epidemic of graffiti going on right now. 90% of the billboards near downtown have graffiti on them. They're probably gang markings, which is not good. With gangs comes violence.

Just the other day I intended to post about my neighborhood/area , about the absence of the signs. Hardly a sign anywhere ? Do not know if an ordinance was passed ? Or why it is ? But I do like it much better than in the past.

Maybe people are afraid of their property being vandalized by those who don't agree with their politics. Our country is so polarized right now that if you support one candidate, those on the other side are ready to go to war with you.

By law they’re supposed to pick up election signs after the party. Hundreds of thousands end up in streams, ditches and only God knows where? How come there’s no outrage? I’d refuse to participate, that’d be my gimmick. “Look at the dopes ruining the environment” I’d say, “they hate planet Earth!” No signs.

No Ordinance was passed, that violates the 1st Amendment.

That's all such a farce anyway. It's just another ruse to distract and confuse people while funneling money to those who already have everything and break the very rules they lay down for others with their limos and jets. 😖

That's true. The situation has become too volatile. People can't discuss reasonably anymore. It's beyond sad.

Here in the Province of Ontario, election signs MUST be removed 72 hours after voting day by the candidates workers OR the municipality will remove them AND charge the candidate $50 for each one the city workers find. That threat of monetary fines works magic here.

Link. Election Signs – City of Toronto A good idea, and the city of Toronto requires the election signs to be made of recyclable materials, too.

The election in America is now over, hundreds of thousands of political signs will never be found nor picked up. (Probably in the millions but….) There were some flips and some flops but one thing is for sure, I’m a sucker for participating.

I'm sure that can be worked around . Like i said, any sign that even mentions the KKK or uses the "F" or "N" word can & will likely be removed, so if it's wanted it will stay, if not ... it can be taken down. As such .... the easiest way to avoid trouble, confrontation, is an Ordinance banning them all.

That form of speech can be restricted, and is not considered political.

But if a jursidiction says no signs ..... I'm fairly confident there will be no signs.

If a person wants fight it in court ? It's going to cost them 💰
It will cost the govt. You can bet any advisory opinion from the Law director, will be, do NOT enact it. Even if done, it will be challenged by groups with clout before it ever becomes effective.
