Are you in the path of the "Christmas Blizzard"?

We seem to always dodge these things, just barely. It's raining here and I think it's supposed to get colder next few days, but no snow or ice.

High for today was 42F & overcast. Started to rain around 6 pm & turned to snow about 20 min ago w/temp at 32F. It's now 29F w/9 mph winds, gusts at 15 & may get stronger. Friday at 9 am they are calling for -12 & by night 3-6" snow.

We now have about 3100 with out power in East Texas. Not the grid, lines are down from high winds, fallen branches and trees. I think it is more in a rural area which is worse. They may not have the facilities for shelters or warming places.

It snowed in Jacksonville in 1976, but I was in Miami that day and missed it.
It snowed in Jax sometime in the early to mid 80's. Actually got almost 1/4 inch accumulation. My Florida-born niece had never seen snow so we piled in the car and drove up there. We pulled into the parking lot of an office and scraped up enough snow to have a snowfight.

We got back on I-95 south and we astounded that there was no traffic. Then a cop pulls us over and says "DON'T YOU KNOW 95 IS CLOSED!!!" Well, it wasn't closed when we got on it.... We got back to Orlando and darned if it wasn't snowing. Just a few flakes. One year it got down to 18 degrees for Christmas. We had an old diesel Mercedes that was on its last legs and you can't get "winter diesel" in Central Florida. We couldn't get it started until it warmed up to the low 30's. No such thing as a dipstick heater in these parts.

People in the deep South get a little irrational when there's snow or it gets really cold. Windchill gets under 72 and we can't cope.

Atlanta falls apart if there's an 1/2 inch.

It's supposed to get cold, well cold for us, this weekend. People are covering their plants. Pretty soon we're going to know what kind of sheets everyone in the neighborhood has.

Hi! I'm brand new here. At the same time, I'm 71 years old. Anyways, YES, I'm in the blizzard's path! Live in Southern Ontario. It's just now starting, with rain for the overnight. Then we're gonna get plunged into a deep freeze for tomorrow. Lucky for me, I don't drive or fly any more. License is voluntarily suspended. And to tell the truth, I never could fly. Anyways, north of us in the Bruce Peninsula, as well as south of us down Niagara way are supposed to get dumped on a lot worse than us. Time will tell. Meanwhile, I'm just gonna hunker down n' stay indoors!

Hello everyone, this is my first post. :)

I think we’ve nearly survived the big storm here. It came through Wednesday night with lots of wind and a couple of inches of snow. The difficult part is the temperature. It was -13 yesterday morning and -6 below this morning. It should continue improving.

I hope it goes well for all of you just now getting it or still waiting. Stay warm!

The snow went north before it got here, but it was about 7 degrees this morning with the wind chill at -10. It has warmed up a little to 10 degrees, but the wind chill is still around -1 ; so very cold.
Marco Poodle has been wearing his Poodle-Parka when he has to make trips outside, and otherwise , all of us have stayed inside and I have been cuddled under the electric blanket throw.

Well, my town still has power, though many in Buffalo do not. But..one interesting thing, lost my internet access and land line phone service for a couple hours. Just came back on a few minutes ago. Thought I would post now, in case I lost anything again

Well, things are looking up for Western New York. The storm seems to have left, But there is still the issues with people without power, people who lost lives etc. We have a long way to go to comletely recover
This map is Erie County, for traveling

The Buffalo Airport is about 55 milles west of the Rochester Airport... You would never know it by looking at the snow totals this season. Just a difference of 83.7 inches!
