A huge ‘tent city’ for migrants entering the US from Mexico is under construction on the fringes of El Paso as officials scramble to prepare for a surge in crossings when Title 42 ends.

The massive processing facility, which covers an area the size of several football fields, is being built in a patch of desert about 20 miles northeast of downtown El Paso.

Trucks carrying equipment and machinery have been making regular deliveries to the site in recent days.

In a sign of the uncertainty around whether Title 42 will end, security guards told DailyMail.com the facility could be in place for 'a few weeks or six months, we don't know'.

San Francisco has opened a temporary sanctioned tent encampment for members of its homeless population during the COVID-19 public health crisis.
The program provides a controlled environment for homeless residents to pitch their tents and have access to resources such as showers, electricity, and food.

SHELTER CAPACITY WAS LOWERED in March to allow for better physical distancing practices, but THE LOWERED BED COUNT HAS LED TO AN OVERFLOW of homeless people with nowhere to go but onto the streets.

Officials have long conducted so-called tent camp "sweeps" to remove people from the city's sidewalks.

But the CDC has advised against doing so unless an alternative is in place that could allow for proper distancing measures.
 
As inconsiderate short term $$$ minded Wall Street backdoor strings on their puppets, encourages open borders for the sake of endless growth and development their global economy wealth depends on. Well until we are all living in a can of sardines, with destroyed Earth life environments, with the rest of us, especially descendants, eventually left holding the foul bag.

Yeah specific posters should receive warnings. It seems we regularly need to remind SOME members on potentially political threads to NOT use actual political party names or politician names but rather say just references. For example, B is the D president. Of course those posting so, emotionally want to bash actual parties and specific politicians by name. By not doing so directly it pops their balloon but does allow the rest of us to discuss issues in more civil ways.

Apparently, SCOTUS is keeping Title 42 in effect indefinitely as of today. So now what to do with tent city? Perhaps sweep the streets of sanctuary cities here in the U.S. and populate tent city with the souls that have lost all hope?

Dunno. What I do know is that this endless cycle of accepting any and all illegals has to be proactively and aggressively managed somehow. As well as the homeless problem. Who the heck knows what their status is? Is there no end to this madness?

TBH Americans should be used to tent cities by now. Over a million Americans live in a tent. That's just an estimate. Social Services says that number is likely double.
 
2 miles of border fencing installed in El Paso area as migrants surge around Texas
Since the first length of fencing went up last week along the Mexican border near El Paso, the Texas National Guard has installed more than two miles of the barricade and is expected to build more, an agency spokesperson told CNN on Monday.

Still, just across the boundary, dozens of migrants lined up Monday in Ciudad Juárez to turn themselves in to US border authorities. Some had watched the fence construction over the weekend, they told CNN.

They’re part of a recent flood of tens of thousands of migrants along the US-Mexican border – many, including children, living on the street or in tents amid freezing temperatures – who were hopeful the Trump-era Title 42 policy would be lifted soon.

As part of a political stunt, Texas governor Greg Abbot has been allowing illegal aliens into our country, unimpeded, and sending them to NYC, Washington, D.C. and other "sanctuary cities." He's been broadcasting to the world that "the U.S. has open borders and to come on down! ... er, up! And get your free stuff!"

Abbot is definitely not helping the situation and is actually making it worse.

That is false and nothing more than propaganda to mislead the uninformed. A governor cannot allow illegal aliens into the country. Only the federal government is in charge of that.
Alien Smuggling -- Subsection 1324(a)(1)(A)(i) makes it an offense for any person who -- knowing that a person is an alien, to bring to or attempts to bring to the United States in any manner whatsoever such person at a place other than a designated port of entry or place other than as designated by the Commissioner, regardless of whether such alien has received prior official authorization to come to, enter, or reside in the United States and regardless of any future official action which may be taken with respect to such alien.

The border is federal responsibility.
 
This was NOT meant to be political. Most if not all disregarded the part about the homeless in San Francisco.

The federal gov. has done nothing about homeless yet can find money to shelter, feed & care for the health of people entering America illegally. I'd rather my tax dollars be spent helping the homeless.

And more importantly actually do something about the influx of illegal migrants. Blocking them completely could be done the resources are there just not the will to take preventive action.
 
This is one possible solution, although a multi-person catapult theoretically could keep families together.
