Ain't That Peculiar?! My Peculiar Happenings...Any Happen To You?

For several years before my son moved back home, my Panasonic HDTV would turn itself back off when I turned it on. This happened at least 3 our of 10 times during the week. I'm mad at myself for not bothering to have the problem taken care of when it was under warranty. I did read that others were having the same problem. Luckily, the power strip its plugged into is easily accessible and I'd have to unplug it and plug it back in again, sometimes 2 or 3 times. After my son moved in, it has only happened 3 times and he's been here for going on 11 months. Don't you think that's peculiar? If anyone here has a theory, I'd love to hear it.

Also, a couple of days ago, when I went to get a trash bag out of the bulk box, I noticed the box it was sitting on was wet on part of the top. Turning over the trash bag box, I noticed the bottom was wet. I looked up to see if there was a leak from the ceiling but there was not. I asked my son if he inadvertently spilled water from the iron that's stored in the crate above the boxes and he said no. Anyway, the top of the trash bag box would have been wet as well or even if it dried, showed signs of having been wet. I can't figure out what happened.

Do you think the two events I described are strange? Have any peculiar, weird, unexplainable events happened to you? @Pecos

In regards to the wet box, is it possible a small animal has peed on the box? That's all I can think of.

Electronic devices are particularly prone to act up in the event of power surges in my experience. As to the water, well that is peculiar and the cause is likely to be interesting when it reveals itself.
As for me, I wonder when the clothes dryer will be satisfied with the number of my socks that it has eaten.

Condensation. The plastic bags don't "breathe" as the cardboard boxes do. So there are two little weather systems colliding there. This will be especially pronounced if the boxes are in an area with little circulation, e.g., a closet or cupboard.

I have a storage closet. I keep the door open, and run a fan in there for 2 hours a day, for this very reason.

Condensation...that is a reasonable hypothesis. I got 2 wows on my suggestion...are those good wows or bad wows? Just wondering if I made a faux pas.

I have a small TV in the kitchen...that...turns itself on...
I just keep it unplugged...til I need it for another channel I don't get on main TV. 👍
We must have the same TV, @Jace. The one in my kitchen turns on by itself! It didn't use to do that, but it does now. I can't figure out why 🤔, so when I'm not watching it, I unplug it. Weird.

This happened this morning. I was getting up from my chair and my foot caught my laptops power cord. It fell from the table . I caught it just as it hit the floor. I then did what I was going to do, came back to my chair and now I couldn't connect to the internet. My computer wouldn't connect to our modem! I tried Misa's laptop and it was connecting. I thought oh no, just that little touch of the floor has broke my computers internet ability. I tried all kinds of things for about 1/2 hour and then decided to unplug it and see if it would connect with just the battery. I did. Then I plugged it back in and now it works fine. STRANGE!! :)

@OneEyedDiva , I'm not seeing any connection (or obvious cause) with these events, do you think they are related to your son? What does your so have to say about them?
Nathan I wasn't trying to connect the two events just posted about each because they are perplexing in their own way. I mentioned to my son about the T.V. not shutting itself off anymore since he's been here (well after those 3 times early on) but he didn't comment on it.

That would make sense if I hadn't stored those boxes like that for decades without that ever happening before. I go in and out of that closet several times a day for one thing or another.

@RadishRose Coincidence you say? Well it's a good coincidence then because it's saving me money, for one thing. It used to do it so often that I wound up just leaving the T.V. on all the time so I didn't have to deal with it, but HDTVs pull a lot of electricity. After almost 10 years (at least) for it to stop what it was doing all that time...

@caroln Cardboard can start to smell strange when it is just wet with water...animal pee would have really left an odor. Our kitten hasn't jumped up there (the boxes are about 3 ft off the floor) because I always grab her out of there when she wanders in and we keep the door closed. And we don't have vermin...now with our ferocious kitten, even if we did, God help 'em.

@Pecos I have an apartment sized dryer but still it holds a good bit. The way the lint filter is made and positioned, there's no place for socks to go other than in my laundry basket when I take the clothes out. I wonder if your socks wind up sticking to other clothing. I found a glove I was looking for the other day that somehow wound up mixed in with my slips.
