One of my great grandfathers was an illegal immigrant from England.
His parents had a cottage in Brixton.

He jumped ship in Sydney in 1872 from HMS Dido (a naval ship) and married an Australian woman.
Reading the police gazette from that time, he was one of many. There was a £3 reward for anyone who turned him in to the authorities but he escaped to capture and produced four sons, including my grandfather who served in the Boer War and WW I with distinction.

It may be true, but it's from a disreputable source, so I didn't even bother to read it. The guy who wrote it is an election denier, for craps sake. Why do you post these links? If what's in the article is true, why not cite a more respectable source?

Maybe the country isn't running a restaurant. A few years ago there was news about folks on welfare demanding halala food instead of being grateful for their handouts. Try going to their countries and making the demands they are making on U.S. taxpayers.

One of the major factors of Brexit was that being no longer part of Europe we didn't need to accept Immigrants of any type particularly Illegal.. but if anything it's worse than it's ever been.

Our infrastructure is literally on it's knees. We can't get appointments for Doctors or hospitals for months and sometimes well over a year .. there's an acute housing shortage.. People are dying for want of a simple operation because we don't have anywhere near enough hospitals.. and the hospitals we do have are inundated with immigrants using them for free care..

Our schools are packed to overflowing..our teachers at the end of their tether , expected to teach up to 40 children in class, where sometimes only one child in the class speaks English..

Not liking the source doesn't make the information untrue. IMO if you have info that shows the article isn't true that would be the better way to respond. Otherwise it seems like what you post is represented in post # 11

Not illegal immigrants... and not those immigrants who come here specifically to not work but to claim Dole and get a free house for their whole bunch of kids and their inlaws.. .. in fact many brag about the ease of claiming dole here and being housed .. and even claim for children that they haven't even brought to this country and are still in Albania, Romania, or Poland.... yet they've never worked a day here or paid a penny Tax..

I'm stopping now, because this is going to get very political...

Yes... America has always welcomed immigrants going through the proper channels to become part of society as you described. But this thread is about the shocking number of people pouring over the borders for asylum and being housed in places like Manhattan by the thousands. Well, scratch that... two and a half million came over in 2022 alone... not sure how many ended up in NYC... most like a lot more than "thousands."

...and Germany.. have a massive problem.. However none of those European countries provide Dole or Social housing.. for free .. so these illegals do everything they can to get to the UK.. .. in preference to staying in Europe which is much closer to their home countries...

I agree with what you say but then who is to blame for this lapse. More stricter rules should be brought into force where this is concerned.

Could be our thoughts are being wasted here and should be routed to the right authorities. But then again, is the middle class ever heard.!
