Very disappointed.
Son & grandson not coming over. My dil diagnosed with very painful back condition: Polyostotic fibrous dysplasia. Pain near tail bone. She has suffered terrible illnesses, starting before Xmas Eve. I'm pretty concerned about this. She is in real bad pain. She will be 44 very soon.

@Georgiagranny View attachment 265144 there, there, now....a good rant helps.
Today will be better. Make some blueberry scones and I will help you eat them
No blueberries, but I do have four of the cranberry scones left. Ate another one this morning and called it breakfast. I'll put blueberries on my list.

Thanx for putting up with my rant. It helps to get it off my bony chest.

Time to make the bed and get dressed. If DD has time to drop me off, there will be a haircut in my day along with the blankety-blank Walmarting. There might also be hair blue-ing done, depending on how soon we finish the aforementioned Walmarting.

Spring is 51 days away.

ETA: @Pepper That doesn't sound good. I'd rather have teeth pulled than have back pain.

Prayers for you DIL, @Pepper... that she gets long-lasting relief. And for you! 💕

Serene time this AM.... I love the early AM hours, the house is peaceful, I light candles/sip tea/pray.

I got my dresser back yesterday from the repair place. The retired gentleman replaced the broken slides inside the frame and now I can push/pull the wide/shallow draws smoothly, without them threatening to fall out or making terrible screeching noises Happy camper, me =D This AM I put a generous application of Liquid Gold on it and I'll wipe it down shortly. It already looks happier (hydrated)

One thing that is funny, two of my sons went with me to pick up the dresser (younger one has a truck); as they were loading it and securing it in the back, I marveled at them all grown up... Who Are These People? I thought, lol. Somewhere in my mind they will always be the little boys I raised. But of course I don't say that to them!

The older of the two just finished building a computer for the younger one... he's never had any formal training but he is a whiz at IT and computers.

Sorry, proud mama moment, I'll hush now ;)

Be a proud mama as much as you want……no hushing.❤️.

Such a grey day.. I had semi-planned to go out today, but it's so drab out there, I just didn't want to...

Been doing some organising in the barn. Removed the wet tarps to dry them out.. and replaced them with dry ones .. altho' as long as we don't get more snow and ice, nothing should leak in there..

Last night I had a dreadful sleep.. couldn't sleep for wanting to... last time I looked at the clock it was 6am... and then when I dropped off, I had nightmares that made my heart beat out of my chest.. *ugh*

Sorry you had a bad night. I used to get scary dreams and these seemed to be caused by my blood pressure meds. It's a known side effect of Beta Blockers.
Unlike your area, it's a beautiful day here - sunny, blue sky, but cool. Mrs. L and I have just returned from a walk round some of local roads and it's nice time to get the coffee machine going .
yes, I wish I could blame it on Meds, but I'm not on any Blood pressure pills or any meds at all which would cause this... but since he whose name cannot be mentioned did what he did and now has gone.... I regularly suffer from these Nightmares. I swear I won't wake up from them one night, they're so terrifying.. :(

We're forecast for a beautiful day on Monday so hopefully I'll get out and about then.. (y)

@hollydolly I knew it! I knew when you made veiled references to what you did for a living, people you've met or worked with. I knew it!

You're trying to get away from him, from the former O/H. Lord Voldemort! OMG. Married to Voldemort. No wonder you have nightmares.

I hope he gets warts and ugly toenail fungus, not to mention an itchy and incurable (but not fatal) social disease.

Lord. Voldemort.

Today I went on another hike (they have hikes on Fridays) with a dozen or so similar old people in one of the clubs I joined. We walked all the way around a lake. It is so nice to have joined this group because I had no idea there were all these nice parks with trails that are near by.

Tomorrow I'm meeting the garden club leader at my garden plot. Monday I hope to go join the woodworking club, I want to make a standing coat rack because I've discovered I am too lazy to hang up my coats on hangers in the coat closet.

I didn't go to the mind/body tai chi thing this week because one of my shoulders was very painful from all the arm circling the week before, but one of the people on the hike used to be a nurse and she thought I should try again but make smaller movements. So maybe next Thursday I'll try again.

Life would be a little better though if I would just get to bed earlier and get up earlier, I barely arrive to these activities. But it is so sweet to stay up late reading and then sleep until noon. I'm enjoying retirement a lot.

This is the lake we hiked around today, not very pretty in January but lots of trails (luckily one person knew them and led us around expeditiously):

I had to laugh! You'd go to the trouble of building a coat rack, because you're too lazy to put a coat on a hanger. Sounds like me.

As for those morning activities, I agree. Ugh. Why does everything have to be in the morning? What do people do with themselves in the afternoons?

Anyway, my day ... Remove sNOw from my car. Meet with my language partner (in the afternoon!). I'll buy some fast food burger patties so I don't have to cook.

Then a bit of shopping. Talk to my other language partner via Telegram in the evening. I'll try to fit in some exercise too.

Not much, but this is a "busy" day for me nowadays.

I thought I had the whole humidity thing figured out, but I guess not, as there's a bit of ice on the windows. More research is required....

So my day..
I decided to go out as sun was shining and snowploughs did their good job of clearing the streets and..............
......car wouldn't start !
Called our CAA for battery boost but no good as battery is dead.
Now that cost me $225.00 to replace so I am not a happy camper.
I need about 4 of @Georgiagranny's scones to sweeten me up but will settle for a glass of wine or maybe two but ... just remembered I forgot to get chips.
Dang, dang, dang.

Today was the day, dreaded, but with anticipation, the prayers for success fell short, but it was quite edible

My first stovetop cornbread. Burned the bottom, side a tad brown. I had the heat too high. Still sweet success. Just have to lower the flame next time. Oh, this is my second piece.....IMG_20230128_152338.jpg

@Disgustedman, cool, looks good to me, but did you make some soup or chili to go with. I just cant imagine how hard it can be to have a limited amount of choices. Do you have a hot plate or conduction burner in the van? Do you have a gas grill? I don't freak out to much if I lose electric as I can get buy with the grill or in a pinch, I have a gas fireplace.

You said the other day you were going to a neighbors for meatloaf. Are there people there that are in RV's. How does everyone else cook?

Thanks for the compliments, I'm very stuffed. The couple behind me have quite a few gadgets and cookware. There's big 36' long RV's down to 17' mini's some are equipped with gas stoves, ovens. The bigger ones with microwaves.

I have a gas stove. It's quite functional and it's two burner, so yes, I could have done chili with this. I'll remember that.

This was a "Wild Hair" recipe I found on the internet. I looked at the amounts, decided to double the amount (2 boxes of jiffy cornbread) and with everything. It was 1/2" below the rim of the batter bowl.

Very lucky result all around. Will do it again next month, need recovery time.

@HoneyNut, I am so pleased for you. You have already made friends, joined activities, become a part of the community. To me, that is a really big deal. I would probably have taken year to jump in.

I am still up most of the night and in bed until noon or later. I fill like I miss out on so much. Once I do get up, it takes me hours to get moving. Just not a lot of time to get things done while the sun is up.

I know what you mean Blessed. This is exactly what I face on a daily basis. Since I've morphed into a night owl (again), I do some things in the middle of the night but some things I prefer to do during daylight hours. I wind up napping during the day and before I know it, the sun has gone down again. 😖

Re the OP: Besides taking two important calls today from my granddaughter and friend who's doing my video, I did much of nothing. I took a couple of naps and played with Deja for a little while. I started dusting, but didn't finish the job. 🙄
