What are you doing today 2023

The Costco or Sam's Club doesn't work for me, either. As @RadishRose says, those larger two packs of ketchup or salad dressings, will expire before I could use them in a year. Bulk buying is great for families, but large boxes of cereal, or bundles of six or large packs of fresh green peppers is a waste if the expiration date beats your usage.

Sometimes more just doesn't save you money.

That's a rough situation, @Georgiagranny
but I was thinking when I was offline, that I would do, exactly as your next post, (I read after I came back)
said you did.
Both, to take an action, and to prevent the recurrence next time.

Hurray for the comfort of birds and daffodils!
(and scones, which sound delicious, cranberry and orange ones)

I have to laugh at myself. I thought I might clean the living room today.

I Swiffered the laminate floors (I always do it before I hang up laundry, for reasons), did the laundry, and cleaned the humidifier.

I'm behind on my exercises, and I haven't even done the dishes yet. Maybe I'll catch up on both before I talk to my language partner.

After I talk to him, I'm crawling into bed. Maybe I'll finally watch The Conversation (movie that I downloaded). I haven't felt like watching anything lately.

oh lordy, here I am at 330am wide awake AGAIN....dang it,
don't know what my body is up to but it cannot be good....power went off here about 930 and was back about 11pm....house was just starting to get cold when the furnace
kicked back on...too early for me.......

A nothing day.
Was planning a shopping trip but more snow....been stuck indoors for almost week now.

I wish I could make scones or something but the thumb that isn't there won't let me ...and.... am running low on potato chips:unsure:
so will have to come up with something else to nibble on while watching TV.
I might get the knitting needles out again and see if I can get along with them any better than the last attempt . It has been a while since I tried.
Last time I said too many swear words but a little more flexible now.knitter.gif

Just noticed Georgiagranny's problems with tax. Our friend in the village, has renounced her American citizenship because of the tax situation.
The USA is one of only two countries that tax its citizens on money earned in another country, although there is an allowance made for this.
However, they still have to fill in a tax return and this means disclosing all earnings, interest on savings, joint accounts etc.. There were specialist accountants that could do the paperwork, but at a considerable cost.

Now I'm retired I'm glad I don't have to file a tax return, but my daughter moans about form filling and having to pay 40% tax on her consultancy work. That's not taxation, it's confiscation.

It's cold but dry today. Doing a bit of early Spring cleaning and making Stamppot for dinner.

A light fluffy snow falling, but the sun is trying to show off. I hope the sun wins.

I'm picking up a friend here, and driving out of town to fetch another friend we know, then off to the movie matinee.
A Man Called Otto is showing, then a late lunch and a girly gab fest! It sounds like just the kind of Friday we need right now.

I hear ya. My case is different... I only have one fridge/freezer and because of cabinets they put in overhead, my f/f is smaller than the standard. I can't freeze a whole lot, so it's just another reason Costco or other club type stores don't work for me.
It pays for me to be a Costco member because my house has plenty of pantry, refrigerator and freezer space, plus there are two of us. Solo living in smaller quarters with limited storage would be a different matter.

No giant Costco twin-pack ketchup for me - we rarely eat anything that calls for ketchup. I regularly buy their Power Greens (1-1/2 lb bag of fresh baby chard, spinach and kale) and freeze most for soups and stir fries. Most of their other produce is too much for me in terms of quantity and price per lb.

Like some of you I have small apartment and limited cupboard and freezer space so it really irks me to see food
at "two for the price of one" in some of our supermarkets. The price in buying only one is ridiculous. Sometimes it works to my advantage but mostly.. not.

I really do not need two bags of mixed greens and in fact find one bag is too much.

I find the same with clothing stores in my neck of the woods. Two sweaters or whatever for the price of one. Why not just give 40% off. They would get much more business that way.
Just my rant for the day

yes that annoys me too.. but there was talk of supermarkets stopping those BOGOFF deals.. and I haven't seen any for a while so maybe they have stopped it...
