Just finished plowing another 10" of snow, but it looks like we're getting a three day break, and only a short while until vacation. A most wonderful evening, and tomorrow to you all.
Thanks ..That is fantastic. I was hoping that you'd do a follow-up post about your knitting adventures. Glad you did!
Are you right or left handed, and which hand has the wayward, not-totally cooperative 'thumb?'
Which stitches did you do, or do you have in mind?
If this is too much to discuss here, we could take the topic over to the hobby and craft section?
Have you ever crocheted as well? I too had preferred knitting, but went back to crochet, due to hand difficulties. I also use fatter handled crochet hooks, now.

Thank you @georgiananny - no worries, I only sulk at homeIt's morning again! It happens daily.
It's a day off. That doesn't happen daily.
@Trish with an r, I can't provide hot chocolate, but you have my sympathy because I don't want you to sulk.
There's laundry and vacuuming to be done, and since I've already had coffee, there's no excuse to not get started.
I know how you feel, I've suffered from arthritis along with a bad fall from a playground equipment circa 1972. Ever since my back problems have been worsening. My not-very-strenuous errands yesterday sapped my strength. Today I slept in a bit, then had a lazy morning.
Even though I exercise, I feel I'm getting out of shape. I need to figure out a way to improve my cardio without putting stress on my knees (and without spending money). This afternoon I'm going to experiment with rowing movements using a resistance band/loop.
Also, I bought light hand weights yesterday, so I'll start using them during other routines.
Tonight I host the trivia game.
@hollydolly after 50 years of backaches, I've learned tricks to get around. (BTW, it was dark one minute, sunny the next, then blam, bucket downpour, that's Scotland for you lol)Well not wholly unexpected after yesterdays' Jaunt out.. my back has painfully seized today..... it seems to happen a lot now, because I'm at home much more than before, and not getting out most days as I used to, when I do go out, and driving and getting in and out of the car several times during the course of the outing .. the following day my back protests.. and BOY does it protest, so this morning, I'm very carefully trying to walk from room to room in the hope it won't take my legs from under me ...problem comes when trying to bend into the fridge or lower kitchen cupboards
On the upside.. it's Sunny again.. and I got a surprise package in the post from my Daughter of Dark Mint chocolate...![]()
thanks Supernatural... After years of Back problems caused by herniated discs, and OA of my spine.. I have a reacher tool... and several canes dotted throughout the house to try and make life easier when my back goes out suddenly like this. I also treat it with Heat pads ( some people prefer cold, heat works better for me) and painkillers .. Good idea about taking the grabber tool to the shops.. however when my back is as painful as it is now, I can't go out, can't drive so I'm not in the shops.. but as you say handy for everything around the home..@hollydolly after 50 years of backaches, I've learned tricks to get around. Bend your knees trying to keep your back straight and try to get a Reacher Grabber Tool, comes in handy in the home and these below being foldable means you can take it to the shop to retrieve high or low items in shelves. Great back savers.

No pool.. this really frustrates me having a pool at my second home abroad.. but not having one here. The municipal pool at the sports centre is the only one for miles so it gets packed there... . Walking is a great exercise for me..I like to walk.. but not when my back is so painful as it is now when I can barely stand without excruciating pain. Sitting makes it worse so of course I;m caught between a rock and a hard place because my lower back won't hold the weight of my torso currently without the support of the canes.. so I can't walk.@hollydolly I don't know who "they" are, but they say that walking and swimming are beneficial for back problems. It doesn't seem like walking does a whole lot for you except exacerbate the problem. Might swimming help? Is there a pool anywhere nearby where you could try swimming?
Laundry has been started, Gramma has been fed, litter box cleaned, bed made. I can't get excited about vacuuming.
That sounds like a plan GeeGee.. however no space here for a rocking chair... but it's worth bearing in mindDear me @hollydolly! You really are caught between the devil and the deep blue sea. The only other thing I can think of that might provide some relief is to sit down the way that JFK did. He used an old-fashioned straight-back wooden rocking chair (with cushions, of course).
I found this on Google:
Are rocking chairs good for your back?
Reducing back pain
The rocking chair helps to improve body posture. Researches have shown that rocking chair helps in reducing back pain and neck pain as well. The movement of the body while sitting on a rocking chair increases blood circulation in the body and reduces inflammation and body pain.
Please post procedure for making fishCold and windy today. Went shopping and got a good deal on whole duck - less than half price. Making a fish pie for dinner.
I have a long-ish reply to this but don't want to hijack this thread. New thread here:You mentioned applesauce, Jules……where ever I can, I use unsweetened apple sauce to be able to cut way down on the sugar.
We have a woodstove in the living room. Dio kept it going all day, and part of the night. It was enough to keep us comfortable. We also used it to heat up our meals (and make coffee!!Oh gosh, @Trila
Going for multiple days after an ice and snowstorm, without power, is such a strain. How did you do your meals, and store foods, etc?
Very glad you checked in with us, and got showers, not necessarily in that order!![]()
