It's almost 2pm on a sunny cold 33F afternoon. I haven't done much more than clean the kitchen. I actually got up at 7:30, but fell asleep again watching TV. Then I started here. Time to feed poor puppy.
Hmmm. If I ever cut my super long hair, perhaps I should put it in braids first. Then I could make a hair rug.@Kaila and @Shalimar But...can we trust @Trila with demonstrating somersaults? And splits? Let's not even think about that! I mean...keep in mind her ability to break bones with no effort whatsoever...jussayin'
One more thing apropos "extra" fabric...back in the day, when the mantra was "use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without" that extra fabric became rag rugs. So help me, we had rag rugs everydamnwhere! Aunts, mother, grandmothers...when they weren't knitting, crocheting, sewing, they were braiding fabric for rag rugs.
Why not?Is that an offer?![]()

Oh, good idea!Hmmm. If I ever cut my super long hair, perhaps I should put it in braids first. Then I could make a hair rug.![]()
What about the splits?
Banana?Is that an offer?
I can't think of any reason!Why not?![]()
My uncle used to tell everybody to hang on to anything that could be made into a braided rug because my aunt would snatch it up and make a rug out of it.Oh, good idea!
As was said, they would braid everything for rugs!
Let's see; now what else do I have around here, that possibly could be braided, and turned into something else?
Does it really have to be something that is no longer being used for its first purpose?![]()
I transmitted my taxes a few minutes ago and am happy to have this annual nightmare out of my hair.I will be finishing my taxes today and giving them a final check before transmitting them to the federal and state. I’ll get small refunds from both, but I am just happy that I don’t owe anything.
Keeping in mind that lunch was a casserole of last night's dinner with a biscuit toppingThat's so funny, @Georgiagranny
So if someone visited, who was wearing a wonderful fabric shirt or skirt, she might say, after having served lunch:
I see a small spot of gravy on your clothing; Just slip it off for a few moments and I'll have it all clean for you!
But they never saw it again!![]()
I did forget that , but Brilliant woman, she was!Keeping in mind that lunch was a casserole of last night's dinner with a biscuit topping![]()
Never mind a brandy or two. Get the bottle and a straw! You'll still be in pain but too soused to care.haveing a brandy or two,,,,,laying on settee, legs ache, arms ache, headache,me gouts killing me,,,grrr cheers
Extra fabric bin……..never have enough of those.I like the way you look for other ways to use things!! I do the same thing, and nothing is wasted. Worst case scenario, the extra covers would wind up in my "extra fabric" bin.
In Micki’s crate, I used to have a cotton cover on her cushion……but…..since Corgis are heavy shedders, her hair would be all over, because it didn’t stick to the Cotten cover……so……I changed and put a thick towel in there, and the hair stayed put on the towel.I’d been wondering how you Texans were doing after reading your weather reports. My DD & her husband have postponed their drive to the northeast in the RV.
My little guy liked his crate covered on the top too. Nice fluffy towel inside too.

I gently scrape off any 'chunks' of stuff with a plastic spatula then spread on a paste made from combining baking soda & white vinegar. If you have any old dishtowels, soak them in warm water and lay them over flat surfaces where you put the paste on (helps to loosen burned on stuff). Let all that sit for 4-5 hours (overnight is ideal) then wipe up the resulting mess. The oven racks go to the laundry room tub where they soak in hot water for a while then I grab a couple of SOS pads and take off all the crap. It's a pain because you have to rub off each wire separately so it takes a while but they come up pretty clean after that. What do you use?
