What are you doing today 2023

I'm feeling very thankful, that the power has stayed on, throughout the past couple of days and nights of the wintery storm, here.
After the mild days we'd had beforehand, it has turned extremely cold again, and therefore, it would have been terribly difficult, without heat or warm foods/tea, and without being able to warm my pain pads.
I'm so happy that you did not have to experience a power outage! They are no fun, especially if they last a while!

Our power was out for 4 days in Jan. I am fortune that Dio was so prepared! We have a woodstove, to heat water for brushing teeth, and for warming food. We have a generator, to keep the food in the refrigerator and chest freezer cold. Even so, our days were consumed by getting through the next task!

Today I'll be doing more cooking. The brownies, amaretto mousse and lemon bars are in the garage and garage refrigerator where they'll hopefully be less tempting than if they were in the kitchen.
Forget monkey-see, monkey-do. For me it's monkey-see monkey-eat.

Rain is forecast all day today - high of 53° today and only 46° tomorrow. I can't remember the last time it was this cold in So Cal, but it's been well over a decade. Sigh. I hope a lot of guests don't bail out on tomorrow's party, but am steeling myself for cancellations. Most in Southern California are weather wimps (myself included). Nearly always having clear weather spoils us.

I'll mostly be in the kitchen again today. Might start DH on the little bit of decorating we've planned - he's got a more artistic eye and really gets into it once he's started.

Had a shower, breakfast and my morning walk already. Now getting ready to go shopping with Sonny today. He is picking me up in an hour or so. It is snowing but no problem for him.
Treat yourself to something yummy!

You deserve it!

Cold, windy and occasional light showers. Did a bit of tidying the kitchen cupboards. Very bad of me, I found some packets of spices that were years out of date, and virtually empty sauce bottles. Plenty of room in the cupboards now!
Cider braised pork ribs for dinner this evening. Managed to get a picking of sprouts from the garden, but we had a bad crop this year.

@Kaila, I hope your power continues to stay on. Am a bit worried about ours, though the last time we lost power for any period of time was 30 years ago from the big earthquake.

Funny thing about habits ingrained during early years. DH grew up in So Cal, I grew up in semi-rural areas on the east coast. A few years after we were married there was a big lightning storm and the lights flickered. I duly filled containers and the bathtubs with water DH thought I was nuts.

I explained that if the power went off we'd lose water and we'd need some for drinking and flushing. He asked why I thought that. I couldn't understand why he didn't know to do that...

Then the light dawned. I'd grown up with well water, he with "city water." Well water: no power, no pump to bring up the water. City water: completely unaffected by power outages.

Hi, kids. I'm home and hungry. Going to forage in the fridge for something to eat, then take a short nap.

High clouds and 75...it was supposed to be raining with a high temp of 68. See? They lie flatter than pee on a plate. Now saying rain will start in about an hour. Okay.

Took a turn around the garden to see what's sprouting. So far, there's going to be an extremely healthy crop of weeds. I pretended I didn't see them. I was busy looking at four different varieties of daffodils.

New Lady did show up this morning. You know her first words, of course. Same as every other day. Then a recitation of how "unfair" that she's on tomorrow's schedule and that Sir told her yesterday that she doesn't "have to work" if she doesn't "want to."

Maybe we'll get lucky and she won't.

I was trying to print labels. She thought she was being cute and shrieked at me to "move your @zz!" I beg your pardon? Do what? Wish I could duplicate in words the nasty and very loud tone she used, and then said "I was just playing." Really? That's being funny? Me: "You've done that before, and I told you it's not funny and not to do it again." New Lady: Laughter.

Deliverance is just another day away.

Gonna try to clean this dump up a little, at the very least. Son/grandson coming over tomorrow! I have re-named Buffy's bedroom The Playroom. This is where my grandson plays with his father's old toys! He Man figures & vehicles & Castle Greyskull and Snake Mountain! "By the Power of Greyskull!"
My grandkids play with all my kid's old toys too! They love them. Lately the favorite is the trolls and their troll village.

Stayed in bed all morning with Internet.

Now I've had lunch, I'll get myself cleaned up, and maybe vacuum the living room. Then put my feet up -- a necessity because of leg problems.

Then 30 minutes of exercise. It's not enough, but it's all I can face these days.

Eat supper (something from the freezer). Talk to my language partner. Read in bed, fall asleep.

All you overachievers, I don't know how you do it!

I said 'goodbye' to my tricycle today.

I was summoned by the lovely lady from over the road.

She told me that her granddaughter has had to sell her car because she can't afford to run it, and, if I could let her use the trike to go to work, she would be grateful.
Well, she couldn't of picked a better time, because I've renewed the brakes and generally overhauled it, so, this afternoon I had a good long ride on the trike and then passed it over to the young lady. She took to it like a duck to water.

Now, I'm a little subdued, I need something new to fill my days. 😊

Sonny and I came back from shopping and watched a series on Prime called Dogs With Jobs. We watched a few episodes. He had to go pick up his grandson. After he left I made amaretto ice cream for supper and cut a few slices of liverwurst. Dishes washed, kitchen clean and coffee made for tomorrow. I am tired again today so will be going to sleep early.

Jessica, she's the MG Y-Type on the left, has a poorly trafficator, the left one. The electrical switch is positioned under the steering column, it will probably have to come out to get at the switch. That should keep you busy for a while.

This evening we are packing our clothes for tomorrow, we are off to a twelve hour jive festival. At our age? Listen, you're never too old to rock & roll!

I had planned groceries, shower, pharmacy and got the groceries, shower, then forgot pharmacy. So hauled my butt to Safeway, well, they have a sale today. 8 pc dark chicken.

So come back, see neighbor across from me has snow covered propane tank. I asked him how he heated his vehicle (It's not road worthy as the picture shows)16772848197883829713856554521589.jpg
He then told me the tank was empty, As others know on here, I have spares. I gave him one (Almost had to force him to take it) he was so thrilled.

Then he started helping someone else, he does this daily. I snuck over and left the thighs for him on his front seat. Yes, I ate the legs.

I was going to go to Spirit Mountain this past Thursday, but obviously it worked out that I can do that later, tomorrow it's off to refill some tanks. Possible storm coming tomorrow night.

I even had my propane heater and my stove going last night, still left ice on my windshield inside. Next 4 days will be at or below freezing.

Oh I feel for you Lois.. this last week I had the sciatic nerve play up all down my left leg... the agony...😖 !! I don't usually suffer sciatica from my lower lumber issues but occasionally it gets me. and this week I had one day of it hurting like hell.. can't imagine how painful that must be to have all the time. Hope you get major relief soon 🤗
Unfortunately, Holly, the nerve is pinched at the last lumbar disc and the 1st sacral disc. It's an old injury where I wound up with a slightly displaced right hip. Now, it has shifted, and I am in absolute misery. If you could have seen me attempting to negotiate all the different rooms at my eye doctor's office, you'd have called an ambulance. My son was holding me up, and I was dragging my walker along as though it was some ragged piece of metal I found. I don't normally need a walker, and I get tangled up in the damn thing. I have 2 of them from years ago when I fractured my ankles. One for indoors and one for outdoors. People think this is nuts, but believe me, it serves a good purpose. At any rate, I finally did get straightened out. However, I am beginning to develop macular degeneration in my left eye. No treatment at this time since it is in the very early stages and doesn't really interfere with my eyesight.

This place is so addictive, I shouldn't have switched the computer on but for you Holly Click here to see more MG's than you can shake a stick at. About half way down you will see the two of us, in period dress, standing alongside our car. Our appearance caused quite a stir with MG types. Now I must get ready for that all day gig at Worthing.
