Buckingham Palace is set officially to describe Camilla as ‘Queen’, rather than ‘Queen Consort’.

:)

This guy, and his statue below, of him standing looking out over Trafalgar Square in London. You are probably aware that the Brits have a connection with him too. :)

I wonder if Llynn can tell us all about it?

This previously British guy, who sparked a 7 year war between the French and the Brits in North America in 1756, costing millions, and causing the British parliament to consider rasing tax in the colony’s to pay for the colonies security.

I was being facetious ..when I said ''Who'' ?

yes , however just before the Queen died she announced that when Camilla became Queen she was to be known as Queen Consort...
However, it is the prerogative of the reigning monarch to bestow, or remove, titles.
Now that Charles is King it is up to him to indicate how he wishes his wife to be addressed.
Or so I assume.

Clearly ! Just a pity that they've both gone against his mothers' express wishes..

So. If Prince Philip was still alive and Charles became king, it would be King Charles and Prince Philip? LOL

Re Camilla, I'm sorry. Without knowing her and without being a Brit, I don't like her if for no other reason than she was the third person in Charles' and Diana's marriage (doubtful that there would have been any scandal re Diana and another man had it not been for Charles not keeping his britches zipped).
Holly will correct me if I have my facts right. IMO Charles should never have married Diana. He was clearly not in love with her but she was the one chosen for him because she was young and free of any scandal i.e. virginal. Her purpose was to provide him with an heir and a spare but she, poor girl, found herself pretty much unloved and unsupported. They did try but the marriage was doomed from the beginning.
Having said that, and being the incredibly shallow person that I am, That Woman is as ugly as homemade sin. There. I said it. She always has an expression on her face that makes it look like she's sneering at the mere mortals. Imagine basing my opinion on her looks (like I said, I'm incredibly shallow). Keep in mind that the reason Charles didn't marry her in the first place is that she's a...gasp...commoner.
That is not the reason at all. She was married and if she divorced her husband and Charles married her then it would have brought up all the memories of Edward VII who abdicated rather than give up twice divorced Mrs Simpson. The royals were most keen to avoid a repeat of that turmoil. Charles married Diana who was also a commoner.

My mother used to tell me to cultivate a nice personality because I'd never get anywhere on either my looks or my brains. Apparently, Camilla's mother didn't tell her that. (BTW, I should have listened to my mother.) A mother's advice is worth listening to but not always worth following.

Wasn’t Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon (1900 to 2002), known as a Queen Consort when she was married to King George VI, also just simply referred to a Queen, & or Queen Elizabeth by Buckingham Palace during her marriage to the king?

In February 2022, the late Queen Elizabeth II specified that she would like Camilla to be known as Queen Consort, after putting in almost two decades of service to The Crown

In a Platinum Jubilee statement, Her Majesty wrote: ‘When, in the fullness of time, my son Charles becomes King, I know you will give him and his wife Camilla the same support you have given me.
‘And it is my sincere wish that, when that time comes, Camilla will be known as Queen Consort as she continues her own loyal service.’

The Queen mother was a wiley old devil.. She not only ensured she was called ''The Queen'' during the Kings' reign .. , when her husband died she knew of course she could no longer be known as the Queen a title she absolutely adored.. so she played a blinder.. she asked her daughter Elizabeth, the new Queen.. if she could be henceforth known As Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother... therefore allowing herself to be known twice as the Queen.. something no other monarch or Consort had ever been permitted to do.

She did like her drinking & gambling. Allegedly, Ma'am.

I think the security services or police lost her at one point. Only then to find her in a pub having a drink.

And why not!, I say

I'm still waiting to discover what 'Homemade Sin'' is.... :D

Interesting side track @hollydolly. There has probably never been a Queen monarch whose mother was a former queen unless Catharine of Aragon was still alive when Mary Tudor became Queen of England. Anne Bolyn was dead before Elizabeth I was crowned. Victoria's mother was never a queen. Have I missed any other possibilities? Queen Maud? Queen Mary of William-and-Mary?

Correct @Georgiagranny.

Philip was a royal prince from birth. He was Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark. His father was Prince Andrew of Greece and Denmark and his mother was Princess Alice of Battenberg. She was a great granddaughter of Queen Victoria. His principal English title, bestowed on him by Queen Elizabeth, was Duke of Edinburgh.

Another interesting idea- perhaps Prince Philip could then be referred to as Prince Philip, the King Father?

Just joking, of course.

Ask Gens Cornwallace and Johnny Burgoyne. They can 'splain it to you :p

I didn’t get the chance of speaking with Cornwallis & Burgoyne. I did speak with Marquis de Lafayette & other French types who supported (militarily & in some ways financially) the war by keeping the British busy around the world & fighting the Brits on many fronts. To deliberately keep Brit’s preoccupied elsewhere, and away from North America. At a cost to the Brits of £100 million at the time, £23 billion in today’s money.
