This will be my last move…..where will your last move take you.

There are 2 beds…..2 baths…..there was no 1 bed, 1 bath available……maybe some time down the road, I might try to get the 1&1.
There is a small dog run as well.

Did you check out the black fridge, stove and dishwasher ❤️😆❤️😆❤️😆❤️ LOVE them, just like I have now.

There is no carpeting……another good point.

Since there are 2 bedrooms……I can set up all my sewing machines, and leave them set up, like I’ve always done.

I didn’t want a top floor suite, but that’s what they had.
It is a corner suite, facing north.
Lots of green space……and there is a park real close by……they call it the “ Hummingbird Park “

But you decided against the age-in-place that you'd been talking about, correct? This is a standard apartment, right?
Yes, I have, StarSong.
It is a standard apartment.
I was feeling I am to young for the Age in Place option……there was a 4% rate increase for 2023…..which really made the rate jump…..wasn’t leaving much money to do other things I wanted to do.

Will be around many different ages at this apartment, which could be a good thing, and are many retired residents as well.

I didn't see photos of the kitchen, but am glad you have one.

Are you going to miss a lot of the stuff you recently sold? o_O
There’s kitchen pics there too….pics are on 2 posts…..one after the other.
No, I won’t miss anything I sold…..the kitchen items I sold recently are things I haven’t used for quite some time…..so I didn’t need them and won’t miss them.

Looks lovely. Can't believe how low the rent is!!! I like living in an age-diverse area. Children's laughter and screams of delight (and sometimes distress) don't bother me in the least.

After seeing how things went down at convalescent homes, nursing homes and Assisted Living, I am very wary all three. The people in charge of those places have the power to make and enforce draconian rules - including no visitors, no going to the dining room (we'll bring your food on a paper plate), no time permitted in common areas, etc.

The position of the facilities' managers was understandable, but it sure sent up a HUGE red flag for me. While not exactly imprisonment, it was sure a far cry from what residents and their families signed up for - and in most cases, it lasted 20 months!! That's a very long time to be on lockdown and unable to hug your loved ones.

Not interested in giving anyone that kind of power over my life.

Congratulations on finding a new home. May you have many years of joy there. 💙

Thank you, StarSong.
Your opinions, I know, come from your knowledge and observations.
And you know what, they could become very true, I’m just not going to find that out now…..I think this will be a better fit for me now.

I had some friends with parents in AL during Covid. Some in CA, some in NJ. My sister (Toronto) had a nearby friend who moved her parents out of AL and into her small downtown area home during Covid because of the risk to their health and her inability to see them face to face.

It was a nightmare for all of these folks.

It's beautiful, Micka. I see you went with a standard apartment, not senior and not age in place. I think it's so important that we pick what's right for us when we make a move like this. This should be a standard lease and it should still be easy for you to make a move into an age in place later on if you change your mind.

It's just lovely. I'm so happy for you. 🤗

I agree, Micka, looks beautiful, I'm so envious.

Mikala, it’s really nice!! I love my 2 bedroom condo and having an office/guest bedroom. I wouldn’t want to be in a one bedroom. I only have one bathroom but I don’t mind.

My mom and aunt lasted exactly one year until their leases were up in a 55+ senior apartment building and went back to one of all ages. Too many busybodies sitting in the lobby watching every one come and go.

Thank you, Myrtle. 🌻.
I may have been over thinking the Age in Place…..maybe in 20 years.

It is so sad that when you live your life…..and then come to the time where you are needing that extra to continue to have a comfortable and happy senior years…..then sometimes the world turns on you….and end up without happiness.

I haven’t read thru the many pages of this thread so I’ll just answer the original question.

I moved 3 years ago from living in a house by myself in Fresno to living with my daughter and SIL.
I thought this would be my last move but now they are talking about moving to Dallas (Frisco area) in a few years and I’ll go with them.
Daughter already looking at houses and is looking at ones that have a separate granny suite, so that’s a good thing😀

Thank you, Myrtle. 🌻.

That's entirely possible. The option is still open if you change your mind down the road. One thing about that, you can keep your savings until you really need assistance. For now, the uncertainty is over. Will you be moving in soon? I hope you will continue to let us follow your relocation story. :)

I have been stressing about the financial part of the Age in Place.
As of yesterday…..my stress has been greatly diminished.
I have possession of my apartment June 1st.
Unless……
Something goes terribly wrong with selling my house…..markets are still strong here…..keeping my fingers crossed.
Of course, I insist that you all will follow me…..or I follow all…..
Not going to get rid of me that easily.

There is a lot to think about in Age in Place for sure. I am taking my time.

But, I will follow along with your adventure. Lots of pictures, please! :ROFLMAO:

Just some more pics of my upcoming home.
