This will be my last move…..where will your last move take you.

I was thinking……yes…..I know…..have to be careful with the thinking thing…..sometimes gets me in trouble. 😉🙃🥴😆.
Being on the top floor, 4th floor, has some advantages…..
Can wander around in my bare essentials and no one will walk buy and see…..just make sure I’m not standing in front of the windows or patio doors……there might be a low flying helicopter or plane. 😉.

I have binoculars…..can see a lot of things from up there. 😉.

After a great deal of thought and research…..
My next and last move will take me to 55 plus community complex….in Brandon, Manitoba…..1 hour drive from here.

Victoria Landing Retirement Residence.
https://www.allseniorscare.com

There residents their as young as 56…..there residents there that spend their summer months at Victoria Landing, and go south for the winter.
I will have a one bedroom suite, with walk out patio or balcony.

It is a age in place community, as you age, there is the appropriate care, still include in your rent…..so therefore you wouldn’t have to move.

Pets are very welcome, they are family…..there are now……birds, rabbits, fish, dogs , cats.

It is all inclusive, except if you wish to connect high speed internet, you pay for that……basic tv cable is included, but if you want more channels, you pay for them.

And it DOES NOT SMELL LIKE A CARE HOME OR HOSPITAL…..Thank god……that would turn me off……and the suites and hallways are sound proof…..can hear anything from in the suite or out of the suite in the hallway.

I will list my house early spring 2023…..and go from there.

Had a tour June 23…..was pleased with all.

I wish you well. Yesterday, we put a deposit on an Ind. Living apartment, will be quite a change. We'll be moving at the same time.

Thank you.
CONGRATULATIONS…..on your future home.
It’s a big change from owning your home and being somewhere that the stress of up keep, repairs, etc. aren’t going to be there.
Hope for your move to go well.🌻.

My language partner and I were talking about my (possible) travel plans. He seems to think I should move out of my apartment while I'm away (3 months), and then come back and move into a different place. To save money on rent.

I don't think he really understands how complicated that would be! Not just moving my belongings in and out, but also changing my address with the bank, driver's license, etc., and canceling/reinstating various things.
Sorry, I guess I missed something here about your travel plans. Where are you travelling to?

At any rate by the time you pay for moving cost, changing stuff, not to mention the worry and hassle   No, leave things as they are for now.

Staying put for now. Everything is paid for. So, no matter where I go it will end up costing me a whole lot more than it is now.

Really want to go back to central or western Nebraska-my home state. My dearly departed wife is buried in the National Cemetary outside of North Platte. That's where I'll end up eventually too. Moving there would make it easier on the kids to put me in the ground. Western Nebraska, Scottsbluff, is higher elevation and would provide a dryer climate. Guess that would be option two.

Most difficult is getting rid of all the stuff we have. Considering an estate sale in advance of my passing. What doesn't sell, either give away or throw away. Me, I've got an Army cot and a foot locker. That's all I need. Oh, and my laptop of course. Like to think everything for the move could fit into a U-Haul trailer, or a U-Haul van and trailer our truck behind at most.

Have given more than passing thoughts to living as an ex-pat. Canada, Germany or South Korea. But at 79+ y.o., it's just in the too hard to do box anymore.

I took a tour of another senior independent living place last weekend. It was really nice but I didn't like the person in charge very much. I know, I shouldn't let that sway my opinion but it is what it is.

Anyway, the physical design of the place was fascinating. It was built as one huge building, only 3 stories, but courtyards were built into the design so that it was really long halls of apartments with courtyards between the rows. I'm not describing this well but it was very effective. One courtyard was for gardening, one had a putting green, etc. All the apartments had patios or balconies opening onto a courtyard. It had a bit of a European flavor. I also think it would have been effective against wind which is very common here.

It's on my list now as a second choice in case I ever actually do this.

Also had a long chat with a woman who was moving from one of the highly rated places here in town because the reality didn't match the advertising. So many risks with making a move like this.

I’m happy you’re exploring your options…..whatever you may decide…..it has to be and feel right for you and only you. 🌸🌸🌸.

This post is somewhat sarcastic……or maybe a lot sarcastic……🤔😏😉.

My X will be wearing out my streets, being the for sale sign is up.
He’s always had a steady path past my place…….up the side street……on the front street…..down another side street……and if he doesn’t see enough…..he’ll cruise the back lane.

Now…..when it comes to the day the movers are loading……he’s going to have to do some pretty tricky thinking, as to where he could park and watch movers loading, without being suspicious, or obvious.

I could get a restraining order to prevent him being anywhere close. 😉😏🤔😉😏.

Good luck with that.
You must be so excited
It’s like you have your own place but with others all around you that have their own place too. What a change of lifestyle that’s going to be. I’m excited for you.
Thank you, PeppermintPatty for your support and excitement. Means a lot to me.
I am excited, but starting to get a little overwhelmed, of all the prepping I’ve done since last year this time, there still is so much to take in.
I am not by any means complaining…..a dream would be to close my eyes here, then open them there and I’m there.
No worries…..everything will fall together……I hope.

It’s normal to be overwhelmed. It’s a HUGE change. It would be odd if you weren’t. Your house will sell. Your realtor and lawyer will make sure it works for you. Just breathe deep and take one step at a time. Maybe ask friends and;or family to help if you’re stuck for time. Try not to panic. Everything will be fine. In a while you’ll be showing us pics of your new location and we will look forward to seeing them.

Micka, the snow!!!! is that for real? I know we are in Canada but sheesh you got a whack of snow there girl.

Anyway, looking forward to you posting that the "For Sale" sign gets plastered with a "Sold" sign.
Yes we did, Lee, I was wanting to share some of that sNOw…..but…..had no takers.😉🥴😏.
I’ve just realized that my house is not mine anymore…..in a good way.
Packing the guys up for showing, is just like packing up toddlers. 😊.

Thanks Lee for your interest and good wishes. 🌷🌷🌷.

I had the same trouble with my X many years ago…..
kerb crawling , walking back and forth, even shouting in the street ….
I had to get a Committal to prison out on him, after , 4 affidavits were presented to him….
Good luck @MickaC ….

Thank you for sharing, Charry. 💐.
I don’t understand why some think they have the right to do such things….very sad.
